I did not know this was a thing.... So Netlix is making a series out of Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman". For those who do not know, this is one of the more important and influential modern comics, and is in many ways the reason why we today can talk about "comic books" instead of just comic magazines.

I just saw the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBXqrBl6pEo

So it seems it starts with "Nocturnes and Preludes", which is just fitting as that the first book in the series. And I must say, that from the trailer it looks quite nice, and the little there is fits the book. I do wonder, though, how they will actually manage thes series, as much of it takes place in dreamland, and some of the chapters are a bit adult in nature, for example when Dee takes over the smal cafe and tortures the people there over 24 hours. I do not know how it will come out in tv format. not to mention the later book. However, I am intrigued.

Is this good?
I've heard western comics are garbage now.

Basing on the cast and that Gaiman has creative control, my expectations are dangerously high

I'm the opposite - despite Gaiman being on board, my expectations are as low as possible. It's easily one of the greatest comic book series ever, and Netflix shows are usually absolute shit. And the better the source material the more disappointing the bad adaptation. What was done with Lucifer really should earn the people behind that show an eternity in hell. I guess we may get astoundingly lucky, like we did with the superb Dark Crystal Age of Resistance, but I'll belive it when I see it. And if it's actually as good and smart as it should be, it will probably get cancelled after one season too.

This is probably my favorite American comic book, so I am quite interested to see how they'll adapt it.

It run from late eighties to mid nineties, so not new. If you like fantasy/mythology (mixed with philosophy) it might be worth checking out. Do know that it is a collection of stories that covers different topics, so not every story may appeal to everyone.
