There is very little known about the project so far beyond a couple of producers, suposedly it's taking some inspiration from the Akira and Ghost in the Shell style of adult-oriented action anime.

What do you think?

I don't know how much potential Castlevania really has story-wise, but I will definitely watch it when it comes out.

EDIT: I forgot to ask, what should the story be about? Symphony of the Night is the biggest one, but I don't think they can start with Alucard right off the bat, it needs to be a Belmont, but which? I think they'll probably either go with Simon or make one up and slot it somewhere in the timeline.

I'd totally watch that... Which reminds me, I should really play a Castlevania game.

I just hope it doesn't end up as another crappy video game related show or adaptation.

Guuh, can anything good come of this if Konami is involved?
I hope they'll whip up something good.
"It’s going to be dark, satirical, and after a decade of propaganda it will flip the vampire sub-genre on its head."
I don't see what's 'satirical' about Castlevania, but I've only ever played the first 4 and Symphony of the Night. Depending on how they run with that, it could make or break the series for me. =\
Sounds like a bad idea. I don't mean it's gonna be mediocre but it's gonna just be an OK generic anime adaptation with no real potential outside of the fandom as the story/lore/themes of the games are pretty weak (contrary to Berserk for example). Or maybe I'm just too old for this :o)
There's a bit more news available. It was said to be "R-rated as fuck", whether that's a good thing or not remains to be seen. At least it might allow for some scarier monster designs.

The show will be an adaptation of Castlevania 3, the prequel about Trevor Belmont that also introduced the Belnades Clan that spawned several playable characters, as well as being the first appearance of Alucard. I guess they want to be able to go in any direction they want and this game introduces three possible avenues.

Reports also showed this as "Castlevania, Part 1 coming 2017". This might also have been explained. Warren Ellis is said to have already written seasons 1 and 2. I think this might be similar to what happened with the Netflix Voltron series. I hear that that show's first 11 episode long season ended quite abruptly, and the second 13 episode season came not long after, leading people to think they were both in production at the same time, but had been split maybe to expedite the release. They perhaps are being more upfront with Castlevania.

I've never played any of the Castlevania games but this seems worth a look. I wonder if it wI'll be more like Van Helsing, more of a soap opera (boring) or something else. Who knows? I might even like it enough to get the games.
I expect it to be a cross between Vampire hunter D and Slayers. Although more on the side of slayers.
I have high hopes for this one. I also hope that visually it's more GitS or Akira or Avatar/Voltron than Samurai Jack.

Not that I think Samurai Jack looks bad, it's simply an art style that doesn't have a lot of appeal to me.
