Tarm: When I select Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager I can see a second PnP display that's greyed out. The one that are there and is selected have a "attention" symbol on it. Dunno if that's significant.
But.. I thought that you could only get a black screen O_o
If you managed to enter in Windows correctly, forget about the integrated GPU.

If you see a problem in Device Manager, that's probably it.
If you only have 1 monitor, maybe the other is an unnecessary duplicate? Can you also update the driver of the correct one?

How did you remove the driver?
Recently had some issues myself due to some stuff remaining even after uninstalling.

Used this to clean it up worked properly after that:

^Assuming the problem is related to your graphics card drivers.

As I wrote above I've managed to get to my command prompt with my repair disc and from there slow down the boot process enough to get to safe mode. That's a huge help regarding the first time this happened I had probles even getting that far.
Device Manager and the sysyem settings...thing report driver errors for a usb mouse (I've changed mouse.) and my PnP screen. I've tried to Uninstall and also get new drivers for my screen but everytime I restart Windows put them back in.

I'm thinking the root of the problem is Windows detecting my screen wrong.
Removing the driver isn't the problem it's Windows putting it back in. :(
I'll try to use your link from safe mode. Hopefully that works.

It should, the page says it works best in safe mode.

I thought the same thing, I couldn't actually install new drivers for months until I used it. xD

Unfortunately that didn't help. Now I have a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and can't get the nvidia drivers installed. Hm.

Also I still have two screen PnP devices. One that seems to be the selected one saying drivers aren't working (Also that its status isn't available in safe mode.) and one hidden that says it isn't connected to the computer. Error code 45.

So I think the desktop information is being sent to the hidden screen instead of the physically connected one with driver error. Or the other way around. I'm confused.
The most relevant information about that I've found so far is "extended desktop display" which is making me even more confused. I'll keep searching and trying but I could use some new ideas...

This really is starting to sound like you'll need a reinstall. :l

I have never had a windows problem I couldn't fix if I had access to safe mode so I ain't giving up yet.

What happens when you "uninstall/remove" either of the PnP devices?

Windows reinstall them again at startup. That's what's so frustrating. I can't figure out how to switch "main" either.

Do you have a dedicated card (Intel whatever) or just an nvidia card?

Phaolo thought I had one (I think.) but I have no idea myself.

Huh. It couldn't get access to Windows installer so it failed.
I shouldn't be surprised. My latest system restore point is 25/5 2016. Just when my problems started. Microsoft Visual C++ install and Uninstall happenings. System restore here I go!
And yet another update for all here that find this interesting.

I just had a third Black Screen of Death and this time I literally saw it happening. Suddenly I couldn't change sound settings to my earphones. Tried to click on a text file on my desktop and the mouse cursor thought for a second and then nothing happened. I tried to click on restart computer and nothing happened. Then my screen went black without even COMODO showing this time.

Here's some history since my second BSOD.
The only program that was affected by my system restore was Bitdefender 2015 and 2016 antivirus. Not surprising because that was the only programs I uninstalled and installed right before my second BSOD. I can't remember if that's also true for my first unfortunately.
So I tried to install Bitdefender 2016 that I just had bought before the second BSOD. Didn't work. The whole Bitdefender installation and uninstallation (I upgraded from 2015 to 2016.) was totally borked. I got a special uninstall tool from bitdefender, got rid of everything and installed the 2016 version. Thought everything was fine until my third BSOD.

Naturally I got kinda suspicious of Bitdefender this time so I rebooted into safe mode (That command prompt script to slow down windows 10 boot sequence is a godsend!), downloaded and ran the uninstall tool again and when it told me to reboot to finish the removal of Bitdefender I did. Windows 10 booted up as normal. Works fine so far.

Now about the only programs I can think off that can cause trouble with bitdefender that I have installed is COMODO Firewall and Malwarebytes. Comodo I know can be tricky with programs. For example NVIDIA driver installation can be blocked by it. Now I'm not about to take my chances with uninstalling COMODO and reinstalling Bitdefender though I just spent money on it so windows own security and Comodo will have to do for now.

Just a heads up for you guys. Maybe this will help someone else here.

Edit: One more thing. The first time I used the Bitdefender uninstall tool I had to shut down COMODO Firewall and I also changed some windows security settings just in case for the uninstall to finish. So there's probably some clashes between those two programs.

Edit 2: Yep chances are it's Bitdefender because I updated it just before my first BSOD. Shit I really liked that protection program since it's so silent. Maybe a Malwarebytes subscription instead? That one seems to be the best from what I've read and heard. It'll probably pester me with found stuff and other things though. :/
