HereForTheBeer: You don't necessarily need a second account. You can link your bank account directly to make the transaction. Afterward, unlink your account.

Unless one uses Paypal all the time, I now advise people to clear their payment account data once a transaction is completed. The reason is that I had a fraud attempt through Paypal, that snagged something like $1.08 from one of my accounts, through a subscription service that I don't use; looks like someone was doing a test transaction before making a big hit. Took six weeks to get it settled, but only 10 seconds to yoink my account data from Paypal.

Anyway, good luck getting it working.

jaekobcaed: Wouldn't that require me to go down to the bank every time I want to purchase that way? Or am I misunderstanding you? I don't use Paypal much so I'd definitely clear my transaction data if I go that route, thanks for the heads up. :)
No. I never went down to the bank to get that done. It's a matter of entering your bank (or credit union) 9-digit routing number and your account number. And maybe a few other details. Pretty much the same as setting up an ACH transfer for automatic payment of, say, your cell phone bill.

Just checked it out. Log in to Paypal, then choose "Payment method". It'll ask if you want to use a credit card or a bank account. Choose "Link a bank account". Then comes up a list of a dozen or so of the major banks, and also the option to choose "I have a different bank". From there you enter the routing and account numbers. They then do a quick $1 transfer from and back to your account, just to test the numbers you entered. Really simple. After that, maybe make a one-time purchase of GOG Wallet funds and then un-link your bank account. Even if you do this fairly often, it's no more difficult than entering card details.

In the past I have also used generic gift card Visas via Paypal. You know, those rebate cards you get for buying tires or whatever. Can't remember if I used them directly on the gOg store, though. Those I did leave linked on Paypal, since it was basically 'found money' that I wasn't worried about losing.

I'll say, though, that the safest option is to use something that is not directly connected to your bank account. And definitely don't leave the bank account linked to your Paypal account. Put it in, do your business, and yoink it back out again once you're done.

Awesome, looks like I have a few locations nearby that carry them. I'll look into getting one!

Many, many thanks for giving me the steps to figure it out, I'll see what I can do. If I can get this method working, I'll definitely unlink my account after making the purchases. In general, I really appreciate the help!
