Agreed, changed the dynamic of the show though I still enjoyed it. Did you happen to watch the live action movies? I enjoyed them much more than I thought I would, they mixed things up quite a bit.

Also while looking them up to see which year they were made I discovered there's another sequel coming out in October of this year, I had no idea. :o

Didn't like the live action at all but then again I almost never like live action remakes of anime.

Sure did, last one I watched should be the spin-off live-action. I've heard about the 2016 one but not sure if I'll watch it. After all, I watched all the previous live-action like 8 years ago and I don't really have the urge to continue with the 2016 anymore.

Next clue: Its tone is not as serious as Death Note, in fact, it's quite the opposite. Nonetheless, you wouldn't want to speak its name out loud lest somebody takes you seriously! ;)

That's fair, I don't think I've seen any adaptations apart from the Death Note one though.

Apparently Netflix have their own version going in production this year as well, wonder how that will be and which version of the story they'll follow.

Most likely, they make their own variation of it. I don't really like how people are still trying to make their own variations a decade after the original manga source had ended so cleanly. Imagine how many people will be pissed if there are western variations of Naruto or One Piece with same characters names but different settings, plot, etc...
