A lot of gamers, content creators mostly, store a large amount of their collection, but don't promote digital storage at all.
Like, half the time, it's stored or displayed, but digital preservation is meager. Not only that, but the gap in accessibility is also drastic. Between console and PC is a warzone!
Which this goes back to DRM, Downloadable content, online only games, servers, etc.
If the museum could have playable demos, ideally? That would be something I could be proud of and would likely bring a lot of people.
The MoMa (Musem of Modern Art), from what I know, had playable demos of classic games, but it barely represented the interest of dedicated gamers by a long shot.
So, I'm conflicted. Retro games...yeah.
