So i actually played 22 hours of the game already on steam, so I guess it isn't a first time playthrough. Thing is I played it with the mgso mod, that apparently I shouldn't use. But the problem is I had a lot of stuttering, which is pretty annoying. So I'm going to try out the gog version and hope that one is better. But if I just wanted patches or anything else the devs added, what would it be?

I think the game is great how it is.

There's one thing that is nice, the enemy health meter was patched in a bit later, before you couldn't see enemies health. I'm assuming the Gog version already has that first little patch included with enemy health.

So have you beaten the game through once, with the gog version? So it doesn't need any patches or bug fixes?

I havn't played the Gog version, but I think Gog would surely have the patched version. Maybe someone here can check the version of thier gog copy. Morrowind was never really that buggy like all these new releases that have to be majorly patched.

And it looks like it includes Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions, which is even more likely that it's all patched and things fixed.

Too bad ElderPlanet isn't still around. But there's other places the mods were moved to before the servers shut their doors.

As for what to add... At minimum, i'd say the unofficial morrowind patch, which fixes errors in the maps to make quests work, and the morrowind code patch which adds/fixes features that are long time problems.

After that... i might update/replace some models with higher quality ones, or maybe make use of BTB's list of suggested mods which deals with balance fixes, replacement meshes to fix issues, etc. (Quite a lot is improved meshes/textures)

Can somebody explain me why not? I played through it about two years ago with MGSO with no problems :s

Of note, if you *really* want to play the game as it was originally released, there is apparently a patch floating around the Internet that allows you to downgrade.

I only recommend this if you are speedrunning the game or are doing what I would call "software archaeology", as the game was extremely buggy when first released.

Side note: The version of Daggerfall from Bethesda's website comes with the patch, but it is not automatically installed, so you can play without it if you're feeling brave.

Pretty much because with MGSO I get stuttering no matter how low I place the graphics, I'm hoping with the gog version I won't get any stuttering.

For Morrowind: highly recommend using only Morrowind Code Patch and Unofficial Morrowind Patch. For later playings Tamriel Rebuilt, Better Bodies, Better Heads, Real Signposts etc.
