I mean, think about it! Selling their games on GOG, if someone claimed not that many are playing their (Ubisoft) games, they could always say:

"Yeah, that's just because most GOG users install and play their games with offline installers, so most of them are just not tracked. I swear, there must be millions, if not billions, GOG users playing our games right now, day and night, even while in shower and/or taking a dump!".

I think this is something GOG should definitely use as their angle to bigger AAA game publishers. That would guarantee that at least their poorer selling games would come this way.

Star Wars: Outlaws and Dragon Age: The Veilguard coming here any day now?!?

*shrugs* Never say never. GOG got big releases that I didn't think would ever arrive here DRM-free, like Yakuza and Resident Evil.

I don't know what Ubisoft's deal is. I know they injected their "U-Rent" online bloat into many games over the last 15 years or so; but, it doesn't seem insurmountable in theory to make modes/items DRM-free at least for single player (though I maintain multiplayer should also be DRM-free and have local options, but I digress).

Based off of positive reception to other big releases that arrived here, and knowing that some of us have bought all of the Ubisoft (or Sega, or Capcom, or EA, etc) titles available so far, it seems low risk for a publisher like this to bring something like Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed 2 here.

Speaking for myself, I own Watch Dogs on console but would prefer to buy a DRM-free offline installer version on PC. It's just a superior product and, I think, that's the reason why many of us are willing to "double-dip" on old games
Sounds very similar to how a while back, Youtube hid the dislike numbers to "protect smaller creators". Meaning mega-corpos who didn't like their stuff being deservedly ratioed to hell.

It's just desperation at this point, pointing fingers anywhere but themselves.

As for this being a reason for more games from "AAA" studios coming to GOG - doubtful. Everybody knows GOG sales for games which are on both platforms are like 10-15% max of the total, if they even bother with releasing on GOG, which most don't.

Especially the mentioned Outlaws and Veilguard. Those are probably the most mediocre games released this year.

I should sooner think Ubisoft to be entering remediation or administration sooner than they would sell titles to us mere plebians.

Maybe find a backing secondary source, too.
1. Hiring a private investigator.
2. Have him dig up some dirty Guillemot family secrets.
3. Go to Ubisoft headquarters with a suitcase full of the above dirty secrets.
4. ???
5. Profit
Since it's impossible for GOG to have player count numbers because of offline installers it sounds like a good idea for GOG to advertise "no player count numbers" to publishers to get more games that sold badly here :)

And no we are not getting any Ubisoft games anytime here soon. Instead of making their old games DRM-free in 10 years, they would rather make the DRM on their old games more annoying by forcing you to re-enter your password every time you want to play a old singleplayer game... And the funny thing is this weird DRM only applies to old games from early 2010s... and not their new games because of "security reasons" when this only affects paying customers.

I own Watch Dogs on console too (PS3 physical copy) but that game has lots of online content and you even need to do the online contracts to get 100% completion on the singleplayer mode. And there's no LAN mode for online preservation. When Ubisoft shuts down the servers in a few years it would be impossible to get 100% completion. So If GOG managed to get "Watch Dogs" here they need to change the progression system for a true DRM-free version.

That is indeed right around the time when the industry at large moved mostly to online DRM options. I like to use the release of Origin (June 2011) as "The day it all went to shit" :P

It was a sort of "hybrid mode" from the release of Steam until early 2010s. After that, the chances of finding a regular game box with no ties to anything online dropped drastically.

Why would you even want those games? Isn't Prince of Persia the only title in a long time that's been any good from Ubisoft?

Failguard is EA anyway.

The only way a shrug could fully express my disinterest for those games is if my shoulders somehow completely enveloped my head.

If those games aren't selling on Steam, what makes you think they would sell on GOG?
Seriously, instead of doing the blaming and hiding game just to alienate gamers [read customers], why not just for ONCE take responsibility for destroying established lore and creating mindless and crappy games!?!

*insert Linus special finger here*

We all know why certain companies wanted to hide the dislike count on YT also, so I'm not surprised over this either, not the least. Unprofessional Cowards!

Look, I get not wanting to jump on bandwagons, I'm the one guy who genuinely likes Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for frog's sake, but come on... the game looks just absolutely bloody awful. Every single second of this game I've seen looks generic, sacharine, with run of the mill console action combat and reeks of "how do you do, fellow kids" writing that goes beyong cringe in what used to be a serious dark fantasy setting. I am not even being hyperbolic when I say fluffing Gollum looks like it might be a better time.

I am not on any "hate train", I already said before I'd be willing to give Outlaws a shot if I had the hardware to play it. And still I'm nothing but amazed at how god-awful Veilguard looks.

Personal taste is a thing.

The best selling game on GOG is HoMM 3 and I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole, but I don't go around shitting on people who enjoy it. So just let people enjoy things.
