I was mildly surprised by the actress choice for this now, cult legend character ( or whatever you want to call it )

oooooh ?
or
booooh ?
It's Rosamund Pike, so it's definitely an oooooh.
I was surprised a bit as well. But she is a good actress and I think she can play that role perfectly well.
No oooooh or booooh, just fine.
How did I not know this is a thing until now? I'm glad I have Amazon Video!
Haha, I'm glad I have Amazon Prime too. I really hope they do justice to the series. It's not often movies compare well to the books, especially such a long series as this. Here's hoping this one does, it would be truly epic if it did.

Let's also hope it doesn't take 20 years to finish the TV series lol. I may not be alive to see the ending, except perhaps my own!

As far as I remember Moraine Sedai was described in the books as blond and small in stature.

And Egwene was a milk maid with brown hair (unbraided). Egwene, Nynaeve and Perrin have all ben made dark skinned... It's called creative license. Rosamund Pike will be fine as Moiraine. I'm looking forward to this until they show me they don't get the books.

She had brown hair.
Also to add Siuan was supposed to be a fair-skinned Tairen with blue eyes and dark hair, but they've gone the route of "Tairens are all black" apparently. Not that I care, like I said. changes in appearance are fine with me. As long as they don't butcher up the stories too much.

Well of course, i didn't want to be the one throwing a stone to the elephant in the room but.... with the books etc etc etc, i mean if Duncan can be female then, every white guy can be black too right? i was already happy Kahlan was played by a very beautiful actress and that is more then enough.. I mean, sorry, lost track again.... The most obvious thing that played through my mind was that i don't hope that that skinny asian looking dude was meant to represent Lan?!

Or more like it's for practical reasons, like finding an available, skilled & affordable lookalike actor, for example (but there are many others).
Miscasts can be a bit immersion-breaking, however, if you know the source.
Also, the latest trend of changing age, genre, race of characters for no meaningful creative reason is even more annoying.

You know he was Lan. I was hoping for a Jeremy Irons type to play Aan'allein. But I'm not completely offended yet.
I didn't read the books but why do I see a female Gandalf trying to stop some "evil" spirit (maybe a female Sauron), with a "chosen" group? Will they burn a ancient clock in a vulcano at the end so the world can be saved?

Sarcasm aside, my point is that the trailer looks remarkably like Lord of the Rings movies, heck the scene at 0:32s is kinda popularized by LotR...

I like the books interpretation of magic, Gandalf would probably commit suicide if lucky.

From Wheel of Time wikia:
"The novel proved extremely difficult to write and characters and storylines changed considerably during the writing process. The series was originally centered on an older man who discovered relatively late in life that he was the 'chosen one' who had to save the world. However, Jordan deliberately decided to move closer to the tone and style of JRR Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring and made the characters younger and less experienced."

Man, I´m gonna get some flak here, but honestly, I find every single actor miscast. Without the series title I wouldn´t have known what was advertised here. Not only the characters look totally different than I imagined, but the whole setting and the Trollocs too.
