New user. I tried to buy Terraria today, but couldn't because my credit union does not allow out-of-country purchases. I borrowed my friend's bank card to buy it, and when I checked out (around 9 PM EST), it sat there loading for at least 30 minutes without going to the next page. My friend checked his bank account on his phone, and the transaction went through at his bank. However, I do not have anything in my purchase history. So now my friend and I am out $9.99 with nothing to show for it. This experience has really soured me with GOG, and I doubt I will buy anything else. Can this be reversed or fixed in some way, or does he need to go to the bank first thing in the morning and stop payment?

I'm one of his friends (not the one that paid for the game) and just wanted to mention a couple of other things regarding this issue. Xornvestite's already put in a support ticket but I suggested that he mention it here in the forums as I know some of the moderators might be night owls.

well it sbest if he pokes one of the blues ( fireK judas ciris ) and explains the situation to them
usually the issue will be resolved within the day then

Xornvestite:
Contact support and don't delete any email from GOG or if it has to do with the purchase.
Then go here. It happens and if it took 30 minutes to finish payment then something happened when transmitting payment so I hope that doesn't discourage you in future purchases.
You can be confident that support will treat you fairly. You'll get your game, or if you prefer, your money back. If you do want your money back, make sure you don't attempt to download any Terraria files.

Recent posts suggest that it may take a few days to get a proper answer, though. (Oh, and don't submit additional tickets. Each new ticket you submit will bump all your tickets back to the end of the queue.)

There's an account refresh link that may help you, but it supposedly changed recently and I don't know what it is offhand. Perhaps someone else will know.
His computer's taking a while to refresh the page. How do you contact a moderator directly? I've been with GOG for 4 years, but never really been on the forums, so I don't know the specifics of contacting moderators.

As for emails, the only emails he's received are the welcome email and an email stating that he's opened up a support ticket.

I'd imagine that GOG has some way to look at charges to accounts. It's wierd to me because I've bought probably 16 or so games here and never had any trouble, but I checked his account about 5 minutes ago and saw nothing in his library but was able to see the charge (noted as processing) on our friends smart-phone (the one who is letting him get the game with his card). I imagine it might end up with GOG just having to check their accounts and the cardholder (our friends) name.

:/

Technology, it never really works when we want it to, does it?

Yeah he isn't the only one that is seeing the site load very slow today. And here, talk to him and he could help you out.

Find a thread that a staff member has posted in (they appear in the topic list with an exclamation mark). Find their post in said thread and then send them a PM by hovering over their name and clicking "Start Conversation". I know it's clunky...

Holy smokes! Never knew what those exclamation points meant, thanks.

To OP- Let us know what happens, please.

AFAIK most banks should be able to retract the payment for reasons like this. if your friend's bank doesn't allow that, he should change banks.

They should wait for GOG staff repply first before resorting any drastic meansures. Also telling bank you allowed someone else to use your card may not end well. And as others have mentioned site is currently expreriencing serious slowdown issues. Started yesterday I believe. Had several oh noes, site overhelmed pages yeasterday and today had to refress chat 5 times for it to load and had to refresh front page several times for it to load all elements of the page.

Hopefully GOG staff can handle both matters in reasonable timeframe.

I like to use paysafe, never had any problem with it, worked straight away.

But even in your case, once you have shown proof, GOG will latest go with it ;)

So need to worry. As mentioned you can contact a blue one, or just wait a little while ;)

But from what I know and read, THIS was never a problem....just too many parties involved and nobody really knows WHO screwed up ;)

Click them and it'll just give you staff posts, which can be pretty useful.
I had the same problem twice yesterday. I created a support ticket as well. Payment goes through but getting back to GOG so the game gets added to the account doesn't work. No confirmation e-mail is being sent.
That happened to me, too, once. Support will take care of it, all they need is proof that the payment went through on your side (e.g. a confirmation email by PayPal, or a screenshot of the money transfer as it appears in your bank account). They will match the payment with the open order in their system and activate the game on your account.

No need to panic or cancel the payment after the fact...
