At least if you are playing it in Windows 10. I suggest you install and use dgVoodoo2 utility with the game. At least it fixes the issue that you can't see anything underwater in the game, while in Windows 10.

Then again if you are playing using the Galaxy client, I am unsure if the Galaxy-version will try to "fix" the game if you modify it with e.g. dgVoodoo2, removing it afterwards. I tried it using the GOG offline installer, without Galaxy. Works well with dgVoodoo2.

EDIT: I presume the game in question is Might&Magic 9.

It won't, unless

- you use "Verify/Repair" which will check all files for corruption or modifications and replace them with their original versions. This process has to be triggered manually and is not done by Galaxy on its own.
- you have auto-updates enabled for the game and an update happens to have a new version of one or more of your modified files.
