advancedhero: Nice, but no Castlevania?
They get Castlevania, it's on the list between Metroid and Adventures of Link.

Aw man haha, whoops. I must've skimmed over it

sasuke12: I remember having the bigger one when I was six.

It was my first game console ever. I played it for 10 hours a week.

It worked fine for 6 long years. Even after accidentally dropping it from 5 feet above the ground, spilling orange juice and water, and sitting on it. It was very durable.

Nostalgia

ashwald: The video they link to does mention super c. So either someone was careless or they really hate the game. :P
avatar
TARFU: I'm going for careless as Super C wasn't too bad as sequels go. In fact, I don't think I've ever played a BAD Contra game, and I'm speaking as someone who owned and loved playing Contra Force.
lols so true.

Shouldn't that be "Doki Doki Panic" over there?

"Doki Doki Panic" was the original version of that game, without the Mario characters, but the "Super Mario Bros.2"-variant was also released in Japan later on, under the title "Super Mario USA".

no because the original japanese super mario bros 2 is different from the usa release which is a reskinned doki doki panic
the original japanese smb 2 is more or less an expansion pack of smb 1
looks the same plays the same but is a lot lot harder

Fairfox: We never had an NES and I don't have teh nostalgia factor. This makes me sad :(
buy it anyway as a cool novelty gadget console

Actually, they did release the Mario version (with all the changes made) as Super Mario USA there. In fact, it even appeared in the Japanese version of Super Mario All Stars (under the same title), while the Lost Levels were simply Super Mario Bros. 2 in that collection.

Too bad the Famicom Mini doesn't have the Japanese SMB2; I happen to really like that game (though I think I prefer the All-Stars version which doesn't punish you as much if you game over).
I saw a preview video by Gamespot this morning as they already have a model:

BTW, for Amazon customers, it seems like the pre-orders will be limited to one unit per customer/adress:

Wait, what happened if you got a game over in the original version vs. the All-Stars version?

(For the Lost Levels)

In the original version, I don't remember if you needed a code to continue (like in SMB1), but you would start at the first level of the world (so, if it happens in 8-4, you're back to 8-1). Plus, to my understanding, if this happens, World 9 becomes inaccessible on this playthrough.

In the All-Stars version, you can continue from the same level you game overed on (so, if it happens in 8-4, you get to start right at 8-4), and (assuming you haven't used any warps) you can still access World 9.

On the other hand, World 9 looks much more interesting in the original version; it even has some text that was omitted in the All-Stars version.
and the hardwired controllers for the mini famicom really are mini
