Wrong thread.
Alpha Centauri should be played by anyone who has an interest in turn based strategy games & sci-fi.

I figured that much. Still, not a valid excuse. :P
Same here, regarding Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. The only one from my wishlist.
Maybe next time. I guess a bit deeper discount would be a nice trigger.
Has anyone tried Space Colony or Distant Worlds: Universe?

IronArcturus: Has anyone tried Space Colony or Distant Worlds: Universe?
I've tried Space Colony and can copy&paste my comment last time it was on sale about a month ago. Space Colony HD has some good and bad points; I paid a bit more than the current $2.50 price years ago and never made it past the first few levels before quitting in frustration, but I still don't regret the purchase. The bad IMO is that the challenge of the game is almost entirely (most levels I played) in preventing the different station residents from literally killing each other. You need to keep an eye on how much they dislike each other and tell them to work it out before they get too upset. This is not at all fun IMO and gets quite difficult as the number of residents increases. There is also some micromanaging of jobs that is meh. However, I like the building part and it has some unique aspects I haven't seen in other games (somewhat similar in Surviving Mars, but that game also has some annoying restrictions although overall works much better IMO).

I also like Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, IMO the best of that type of game (annoying restrictions that force particular patterns of buildings and make it more like a jigsaw puzzle than a builder).

While you never can tell for sure, almost everything on sale now is likely to be on sale again, possibly at a better discount, in a couple of weeks or so for the summer sale.

Distant Worlds Universe is the best 4X game you can play.
Is used to rarely go on sale, but seems to happen slightly more often now.
Maybe because DW2 is in the making.

I gave DW: U a try but I never managed to swallow the lack of race creation/customization so I never really passed beyond the empire selection. I heard its quite good if you don't care about such a thing though.

I wouldn`t recommend Distant worlds. It seems to be hard to get it to run, many users didn`t get it to run, including me, so I had to refund the game.
Space Colony I played about 15 years ago, and I wasn`t too fond of it. Not really bad, but it didn`t really "catch" me.

Is Pandora: First Contact any better?

Haven`t played it, so I can`t say anything about it.
Edith says: Looks tempting, could run even on my crutch.
Hm, so the question is, how Civ-like this game is?
