there are two theories bout this i found
they are doing it on purpose to force to upgrade to windows 10
or the updater has to trawl through thousands and thousands of different permutations and updates for that specific machine
my 7's are oems that came with their machines so there might be some merit in that

it has a share of about 10.30%
but 7 has almost half the windows 7 market share
8 and 8.1 are inconsequential its 7 that needs to be tackled
its the new xp in short
according to net aplications windows 7 has 48,57 % as of may 2016
vista has 1.35 %
8 has 10.30%
windows 10 is about 20%
os X is at 10%
but windows 7 stil has about half the desktop market share
so ms is once again at war with ti self
