darthspudius: I look at it two ways, I respect the band for not taking the time to slow down. They eliminate every problem in their way. However if it is true, that was pretty cold.

Emob78: No band really ever survives a lead singer change. You can change bassists or drummers all day long, hardly anyone cares. You replace the throat mechanic, everyone does. The Misfits were always best with Danzig, Van Halen was always best with Dave, Nightwish was always best with Tarja. You can change the beat, you can't change the heart.
AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains all survived after lead singer changes.

My favourites by each one of those bands is with different singers. AC/DC Judas Priest and Iron Maiden all had atleast one singer before releasing their début album. So it makes you wonder how the logic is suppose to work. If a band can't survive their singer, none of them would of recorded a single album.

Funny thing is I never quite noticed the difference with those guys. I love them as musicians but those vocals are beyond listenable.

But on topic I raise you Therion. From a Death metal growling, to a operatic singer, to full out choirs, to four lead singers.

That wasn't your point. You wrote "No band really ever survives a lead singer change". Regardless of your opinion on the music of the band, the fact is they continued on after making the change and were still successful.

Well Roth and Hagar we can discuss. Hagar sings better, plays just as good guitar as Eddie and still sounds great to this day. Dave was great when he was 30, limited vocal range, no guitar skills, fantastic athlete but sounds like a tired old man now. Think it's safe to say who Van Halen should of stuck with.
