darthspudius: Why did people start calling it xmas? It's Christmas and have a good one too.
slurredprey: Pretty sure X means Christ in Greek. So X-mas = Christmas
And Merry Christmas to everybody!
Well I'm not Greek so it doesn't mean that to me at all. :)
In fact I always differentiate between Xmas and Christmas, with Christmas being a religious celebration, and X as usual standing for whatever you like ... X marks the spot, your signature or whatever.
Personally, Xmas for me means celebrating the end of another year with family and friends, where you may share gifts or give/receive them and a time of reconciliation where warranted. It is also a specific time to spare some thoughts etc for others who may be in need.
In light of all that,
I wish you all a Merry Xmas ... please also use Xmas as an abbreviation if you wish.
Cheers one and all. Have a good one.
