Hi all! I'm a huge nerd for all things Mega Man so I thought I might compile a list of the various games that were released for the PC over the years in English language format. Really, my goal is to drum up support for some DRM-free re-releases in the hopes that Capcom of Japan might (one day) see GOG as a viable distribution service for their classic games. I have embed links for all wishlist entries below, so please go and vote!

Classic series games:
Mega Man (DOS)
Mega Man 3 (DOS)
Mega Man Legacy Collection - NES games 1-6 (Windows),v2

X series games:
Mega Man X (DOS)
Mega Man X3 (Windows)
Mega Man X4 (Windows), v2
Mega Man X5 (Windows)
Mega Man X8 (Windows). v2

Legends series games:
Mega Man Legends (Windows)

Misc. (wishlist entries may include some games not officially released in English)
Mega Man Franchise, v2
Mega Man (Classic) Series
Mega Man X Series, , [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/the_pc_ports_of_megaman_x4x6]v3
Mega Man Legends Series, v2

Finally, I just want to end by saying that some of these games are genuinely interesting and deserving of a place on GOG since the ports vary so much from the original material. Consider for example the DOS versions of Mega Man 1 & 3 which are nothing like the NES games, or the DOS port of Mega Man X which has some noticeable differences in both aesthetics and game play from its SNES counterpart. The Windows port of Mega Man X3 is also interesting since it includes animated cut-scenes and remastered music only available in the Playstation and Sega Saturn versions and not the original SNES release.

So, once again, show some love for a much neglected franchise!
Those old megaman games, megaman and megaman 3 were horrible, they'd have to pay me to buy them on gog.

Here's a penny for your thoughts. :)

Have you played those man? I used to have a disc with those and it included the old school pc ports of street fighter 1 and 2: world warrior...which were also just as horrible.

I have played them. The idea of the game is that you randomly had to choose which boss to defeat, because the item you gain would help you through the next boss, etc.

...and by choosing those bosses, you might have to use one or more of the two things you gained from other bosses to defeat them.

I think they were good games.

I would think they were good...if they were anything like the NES megaman and megaman 3.
The DOS ones are horrible, but I wasn't aware of the Windows ones so I haven't tried those.
I won't be voting though, I just don't care enough.

OK, now I'm intrigued. I thought you were talking about the NES 8-bit megaman series.

Check out the video I posted regarding the PC versions of Mega Man 1 & 3. The games are (almost) universally panned, but they're interesting nonetheless for the distinctly American take on the Mega Man franchise.

Edit: This video is also pretty good about explaining the difference between Megaman (DOS) and the NES version.

I wouldn't even gift the DOS megaman games to NES400, even I am not that cruel.
I don't have much interest in the PC-based Mega Man games, but the recent Legacy collection would be very nice to have here.
Obviously, the ports of MM1 and 3 were horrible. MMX wasn't anywhere near as bad of a port, but still not great. It was done by Rozner Labs (or however you spell it), and it was pretty faithful... though it did cut out the Ride Armors and the midi-fied music wasn't great.

X3 was, as you noted, where they got their shit together; although X3's port did have a couple of weird glitches, like one where the final boss could appear upside down. It's otherwise a good port.

X4's port was solid, so was X5's. Those are also my favorite games in the series, so they're the one's I'd most like to see here. Legends came out on PC during that same era, and I'm pretty sure it's a good port, too.
YES TO LEGENDS!
*bump*

It's a new year! Here's to hoping that Mega Man finds his way to a DRM-free PC release!
