Also, Banished is very very good with no military element to it.
I wonder why nobody mentioned Lords of the Realm 2. One of the best strategy games imho. Total War, before the total war series ever existed.
Also you might like Medieval 2: Total War...

Gerin: vsr was right to recommend Anno 1404. I think it'd just what you are looking for.
Sorry, i missed that. :D

obi4ammama: I am currently replaying a game from my teen years, called Knights of Honor ( awesome game by the way). So i will politely ask you to suggest me other similar games ( playing in medieval setting, controlling a country from the time period and so on). Please do not suggest the total war game. For some reason it doesnt click with me. I am more intrested in managing my kingdom, than in the military aspect. I will be very gratefull for any recommandations :P

P.s. it would be nice as well if the time period of the game is before the introduction of the firearms( so earlier medieval ages)

paladin181: Caesar 3. Not medieval, but Roman empire stuff. Good stuff too. A great city builder with some military aspects.
I am not looking for city builder, but for country managemnt game. Sorry, it is hard for me to explain exactly.

OldFatGuy: Not sure I'm understanding your criteria but I'll recommend you just briefly take a look and might be able to quickly rule it out. Unfortunately I don't think it's available here so this is a Steam link.

Sorry :( . So i am looking for a medieval country managemnt game, similar to knights of honor( which is similar to medieval total war, but in real time). So a game with big overview map of europe. However, the focus should be away from the military aspect and more on diplomacy, economics, politics and so on. So basically total war game, but with less battle and more country managemnt and preferably in real time aand not turen based). From the suggestions until now, i think maybe crusader kings is the closest to my criteria.

Reign: Conflict of Nations - maybe , thank you.

Thanks you. Sadly it is a city builder. It is good game though. :)

You also might like something like Patrician or Grand Ages: Medieval, games oreinted towards the trade side.
So after a research on all recommandations, "Crusader Kings 2" is more or less the game i am looking for. However, i wont be buying or playing it anytime soon, because of two main reasons:

1. It is only available on steam and i try generally to avoid steam (have account and some games, mostly bought before finding out about GOG)

and the big one

2. 16 DLC's?!?!?, Base game plus DLC's costs over 200 Euros (268,82 to be accurate) ?!?!?!??! WTF?!?!?!? This is not acceptable!!!

I want to thank for all recommandations! I will eventually try my luck with "Reign: Conflict of Nations" as a second best suggestion.

A good idea might be to get the Paradox bundle here

https://www.humblebundle.com/games/paradox-bundle-2018

and see if you like any of these including crusader kings 2 for a low price and then decide if you want to buy more dlcs
