Approaching transcendence.

MechoEcho, the puzzle game where you build ingenious robots to overcome terrain obstacles, has received a healthy injection of extra content and is 25% off until June 30. This is no simulation, this is real!

Here's what's new:

1. A new campaign with 10 extra difficult levels - this brings their total number from 30 to 40.
2. This campaign features a new main character. It takes place in parallel with the story of the main campaign, but offers additional insight and some major plot twists, as we see the events narrated from a different perspective.
3. Improved keyboard support for left handed players (by enabling the use of the numeric keypad).

Construct complex robots and let your MechoEcho get carried through the perilous halls of an intricate simulation, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 25% discount will last until June 30, 12:59 PM UTC.

I never even knew that this game existed until this got posted. It certainly looks original, but i'm not really sure what to make of it.

Does this game have much replay value?
Hmmm this actually looks good. I wonder if the mediocre score is only about the short length... (it's all about the width anyway). *sigh* no Linux though.

I really want this game but it's too short for that price even with the discount. I can wait. :D
God knows I only have 700 other games to play. :P

Regarding the score, my understanding is that the complaints are mainly about the length. When the game came out a month ago, I felt sorry for those players that bought it and found that they wanted more play time. My testers had taken a lot longer to finish the game, and I was surprised by the feedback I was getting. That's why I worked like crazy this past month to add more levels. The new levels are way more advanced, and I expect they'll add considerably more play time.

This is a review that was posted BEFORE the update, and it does seem to confirm your statement about the score:

That said, MechoEcho was conceived as a puzzle game in the style of Braid, Limbo and Another World - but with robots. So, it's a journey with a beginning and a end - which is not what most players expect from a construction game. I can totally respect that point of view, but this is the kind of the game I wanted to make. :)

Lol, let me know when that happens. I just made it one of my life goals! :D

(btw: I know the feeling about having too many games, I still have to finish Witcher 3, and it's one of my favorite games of all times!)

Always nice to see a talkative developer, especially when he brings good news to the forum! To be honest, i was somewhat skeptical about it's length but hearing that you've put more stuff into it, i'll have to reconsider for a future purchase. ;)

I understand that. I'll give it a try when it comes to Linux. I see you've got plans for that already. :)

Thanks a lot for adding more content. It's great to see a developer who really cares and listens.

My pleasure. Besides, it seemed the right thing to do :)

I just wanted to say that when I saw the screenshots of the game I wanted to buy it. Then I read the reviews and were put off a little. I ultimately did buy the game. What changed my mind you ask? Well, I see that the developer is active, listens to the feedback from the players, and takes the time to respond to posts on the forum. That's a developer that I am happy to support.

I'm only on level 5 as I just had a little time to play so far and I like the game. I look forward to the harder levels but it definitely has a interesting visual design and the building mechanics seem rock solid.

This is the BEST dev. When I posted a question about it on the MechoEcho thread about left handers, he immediately jumped in. So much so if he was worried I had purchased it because he did not want me to have a bad experience. Anyway, he said he will dothe update for us left handed people and there it is.

I jumped in and bought it. Going to try it soon.
I too am MOST happy to support this dev. Because of my experience now and how fantastic and supportive they are, I will buy whatever they make and release full stop.

They have me for life now ! (along with positech and introversion) :)
