[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

that's because when something is "steamdb" only then it is not giveaway - but a bug, a mistake or an exploit, so it porobably got fixed quickly. I don't know why they are in these threads, to be honest.

Not a bug.
It runs on the fact of what Stems license server does when you demand for Steam delivery network to toss you game files for which (game's) you don't have a license yet.
If the game contains some package that has billingtype "free on demand" then you will automatically be asigned a license for said package (it's a bit unclear which package if there are multiple of this type).
Now, if the game has a package with billingtype "no cost" with status "available" this may or may not work for you (variable results for different user accounts, it's not very consistent).
Here's the thing, developers/publishers "sometimes" (cough too-often cough) forget to change status availability (to "unavailable") for packages that are supposed to be free for limited amount of time.
This makes it so that even tho store product card for said page got disabled (product card management is independent from subID management) you can still sometimes access and obtain it through Steam console commands or SteamDB (which uses official Steam API calls for license request or install which in turn faces license server checkup).
So if a developer forgets to disable some package you can SOMETIMES still get it some time after (it's unclear why the working status of this is inconsistent).
You can get old long-dead beta packages for many beta's this way (usually no point, short of package collecting or data crawling).

TLDR
Not a bug.
Since it's the developers' responsibility to keep product cards & subIDs/packages in proper state this is clearly a case of developer oversight.
( not sure if it counts as giveaway, tho considering that it's a top banner on main GOG page atm then I guess it may )

B1tF1ghter: Warhammer Skulls Digital Goodie Pack
The packet includes a game, Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat, so counts as a game giveaway too.

Correct. It is a bug in the Steam framework that can be exploited when a developer misconfigures their steam packages.
Players still do NOT have a valid license to play that game. It is in all possible ways illegal.

If people claim games through steamdb you may as well go to piratebay and download games.

The game isn't free on SteamDB, SteamDB just gives us a button to press. You just need the steam://run or steam://install command, which is what Steam itself uses when you install free games.

The Scrat Infestation DLC for Minion Masters is free on Steam right now.

And Deep Despair is currently free on IG.

Why the crap is this post being downvoted? It's LITERALLY a game giveaway. You can get unlimited free trials of Twitch Prime. It's clearly not DRM-free but when has that been an issue on this thread? Furthermore, it's not like it's just some random indie title, that's a huge AAA game being given away...
Something weird just happened. Although I already claimed the Warhammer Skulls Digital Goodie Pack, I could click on the "Get it!" button once again. Yes, I was logged in. In the past, if you already got a goodie, it was not possible to get it again... Strange.

They have just giveawayed an item which was free before. So you were able to claim it twice, but it is redundant ;)
