Did I miss it on homepage?

I went to home page, looked at top, looked at bottom, then went to "downloads." - nothing - no installer

I'll freely call myself an idiot...but I'm an idiot with $$$ - Make it easy to find the installer so you can get new customers and I can give you my $$$. I almost got fed up and just searched for the same game on Steam.

I finally found the installer nested under About>Gog Galaxy

That's 3 levels away - wowo - where is it on home page? If it's not, man, that's a real blunder.

My widows 7 has never been able to allow GOG to auto update so I always have to DL the installer. My computer is fort knox with zone alarm, Panda, Malwarebytes, all sorts of ports shut down and networking shut off for a good VPN set up. I suspect the auto installer is getting snagged by some of that, but no matter.

I myself am a developer and have software platforms for the public, and I can say that picture icons, and nested features under various options, is far and away the largest barrier for new customers and destroys experience.

After every update, find a friend who knows nothing about the platform, ask them to find "something" on the site, and if they can't in 10 seconds change your layout. Better yet, have your grand mother look for it. Remember 6 year olds make mommy and daddy open their wallet...so make sure a 6 year old can do it.

Unless, GOG is not for the general public and just for a small niche, I do not know your business model.

Keep at it GOG, I like you all more than steam.

Either your a total tool, or trolling. Gog push them numpty pacifying galaxy client to make it as brain drainingly simple for those who don't know how to use a pc, try have extended themselves at the extent of those whose helped build the company and supported the company before the release of witcher and Gwent, just to get on board those who can barely extend themselves to pressing a Play now button, and this i niche to you, and you call yourself a developer? Prime example of why humankind has lasted far too long and should be eradicated.

And no, you appear to have missed the one and only difference there is between gog and steam.

Easy, there. gOg wants new customers using Galaxy, but there's no link to it on the main page. For those coming from the other, bigger place, and hearing that there is a client for this store, it's reasonable to expect a "Try Galaxy" thingy on the front page. There isn't one.

Click the "Store" tab. There isn't a Galaxy link

Go to the store page for The Witcher 3, the game that essentially launched Galaxy. There isn't a Galaxy link. The only mention of it is from the title of a gOgMix.

The easiest place to find Galaxy is in the About pulldown, and how often do you go to the About page at an online store?
Huh?

Account->Games->Game->Download Links

Or just clicking on your account name takes you straight to your game library.

That's indeed odd. While I don't use Galaxy for now and don't like it embedded on standalone GOG game installers, I still find it weird there is no mention nor a direct link to it on the front page.

If you e.g. go to steampowered.com, it is highlighted and pretty much the first thing you see "Install Steam". Yeah yeah, on Steam it is a requirement while not on GOG (for the most part). but still if GOG wants new users to try it out for a smoother experience, why not give a direct "Install GOG Galaxy" link right at the top of the main page?

It used to be. Front page covered in a big purple banner. That was however too difficult for people, so it's far better to include their malware in every download, as who doesn't need X copies of it filling up your bandwidth and harddrives because you forgot to traverse the extra levels needed to find the "classic" installers (or as they used to be known, installers)..
And it is required for Gwent, which with witcher 3 are the only games sold here.

Ok then it is even weirder. It is as if GOG doesn't want anyone to install Galaxy knowingly, but accidentally.
What if I told you...that you don't have to use a client to game?

Now, finding the classic installers, THAT is what is tough for new customers.

And it's not my business but imo GOG is best suited to catering to a dedicated niche market. The original post reeks of concern troll/SCHEME evangelist. At this point in time, SCHEME has a relative monopoly on PC gaming. Because the majority of people in this world accept lower quality, DRM, clients et cetera in exchange for precious achievements and acceptance as normies. The point is, there ain't no competing with SCHEME at its own game. But there are many of us who have negative interest in that type of gaming and just want our niche.

Been saying that for 2 decades. No one ever listens.

Always get a grandmother to test things.

I guess they realised no one in their right mind would install it knowingly anyway.

Why don't you get a life? I don't use Galaxy nor will I ever but I also don't degrade Galaxy like you do with the sarcasm and smartarse comments, just for the hell of it.We all know your feelings for Galaxy but it is time to put it to bed and get over it and effin ignore the threads or posts on it.

They use to have banner on the homepage. They then changed it and added Galaxy to the offline installers so that people by default were installing it unless they opt-out. This wasn't really the best choice, but they claim it has helped cut down on support request were people didn't understand that they needed to install Galaxy to have cloud saves, and other Galaxy features.

But yes your are correct that a banner on the home page is needed. Add your voice to the official thread.
