mrkgnao: Thanks. I will update MaGog to ignore them all as leftover obsolete IDs.
avatar
phaolo: But can Magog manage to preserve game->mytags associations? (eg: notes)
Also, what happens when "complete editions" substitute the normal+DLCs ones?
These obsolete IDs were never part of the catalogue. I have no idea what they represent.

Whenever GOG changes a game ID (most often when moving from preorder to release), MaGog migrates all your My Fields from the old ID to the new ID. This happens semi-automatically. That means it's done automatically when you next load MaGog, but I need to first make some slight changes to the database (identify for MaGog which ID changed to which), so it may actually happen a few hours after the GOG change. I have My Fields for every single game in the catalogue and I have never lost one.

As for what happens when complete/redux/director's editions substitute normal ones, it depends on how GOG implements it:
- If GOG keeps the same game ID (e.g. recently Ether One), nothing changes
- If GOG gives the new edition a new ID (e.g. recently Darksiders II, Divinity Original Sin), I consider it a new game and the old game +/- DLC as removed games, so both remain as independent items in the catalogue. That way, the information attached to the old edition (e.g. stars, ratings, reviews) is not lost by MaGog, even though GOG loses it. The My Fields information is not migrated in this case, but kept with the removed game.

P.S. One exception is the inane GOG idea of having two "Legends of Eisenwald" catalogue entries at the same time (one "special", one "upcoming"). In this case, anything you associate with the "special" item is lost when it is removed from the catalogue (probably tomorrow).

Azhdar: Very useful. Thanks. I have a question. When I search by MaGog and I choose genre field, the result is complete. But when I search by GOG, some games don't appear in result. For example if I search "role playing", some games like Summoner, Two Worlds and Unepic are missing. It's strange sometimes they appear but most times they are absent. I guess it happens for many games with different genres too. What's the problem? Any solutions?
The reason is simple.

Each game has three genres set by GOG.

When Magog searches for a genre it checks all three genres in all games.

When GOG searches for a genre it checks only the first-listed genre in all games.

So in your example, if "role-playing" is listed second or third, GOG will not find it, MaGog will.

That's the problem. And there is of course a solution, a pretty obvious one. Use MaGog.

I don't think they consider it a bug. I believe they designed it that way.

Absolutely! I have faith.
They will fix this issue just like they've fixed the forum "Search" function, broken GoG downloader links pages, broken wishlists...
Oh wait, these aren't all fixed...
So I think the real answer is "Soon™"

Now that the sale is over, I have reverted MaGog's update times to the previous schedule, one hour earlier than it had been these past 11 days.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 6.3.3 has been released with the following features:

* Extended the version 6.1.6 change (all filters ignore leading and trailing spaces) to also affect the inline "|" (or) operator
*** Note: For example, now you can search for a title containing "cat | dog | mouse", whereas previously you had to use "cat|dog|mouse" (without the quotation marks, of course).

* Corrected a typo in the "Release Date... is unknown..." filter which made it malfunction

Can I export search results, my library and wishlist? A detailed export file for my library and wishlist?

You cannot export search results, but you rarely need to, since if you save (e.g. bookmark) the URL of the results page you can rerun the same search again and again. Do you need something different?

You can export your "My Fields", which, if you used "Get From GOG", contain both your library and your wishlist. To do so, use "Export My Fields". However, the only thing you can do with this file is import it back into MaGog, and it is therefore used for:
(1) backup
(2) moving your My Fields from one machine to another

Perhaps if you told me what you are trying to achieve I could help more.

P.S. I recommend going through the MaGog tutorial (http://www.an-ovel.com/pages/ma_tutr.php), especially the chapters for versions 1.0.0 and 2.0.0.

P.P.S. Note that search results can be generated in HTML (the default) and in JSON (useful if you wish to post-process the results).

Well, I want to generate a list of my games/wishlist as detailed as MaGog search results. But the list includes only my games/wishlist.

No need to export anything, MaGog does it all for you.

(1) Perform the full "Get from GOG", if you haven't already [repeat it whenever you wish to update MaGog with GOG changes].
(2) In the MaGog options (near the bottom), select "Tag Checkbox Logic -> Is Any Of" [MaGog will remember your selection in future sessions, so you need to do this only once]
(3) In the MaGog options (near the bottom), select "Tag Checkboxes -> Use" [ditto]
(4) A new set of "My Tags" checkboxes will appear between "Filters" and "Display"
(5) If you check "owned" and run a search, you will get your library
(6) If you check "wishlisted" and run a search, you will get your wishlist
(7) If you check both and run a search, you will get both
(8) You can further apply any other MaGog options (sort, filter, scope) to configure your search

Note that the "My Tags Checkboxes" are simply an optional alternative to "Filters + My Tags + Is Any/All Of", but I gave them their own checkboxes because they are used so often. I use them many times a day.

Hope this helps.
^It works perfectly. That's exactly what I want. Thanks a lot. :)

Feature request: Could you make use of Grargar's (or [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_gog_games_using_dosbox/page1]thread) of games using DOSBox? It would be very helpful to be able to search for DOSBox games through MaGog.

If you were to add a new search field (something like "powered by"), it could be used to track ScummVM and Wine games too. Although those can already be found through MaGog, since GOG actually mentions those in the system requirements or notes.

GoG and MaGog? I dont even find that remotely funny.

But a better question is, why bring religion and satanic speech into a place that has nothing to do with those things? This is a gaming site FFS, your satanic beliefs have no place here.

Im seriously considering leaving this place because of all these subtle satanic undertones. Im here to play games not worship satan and his minions.

And for those who have no knowledge, this is the reason why they are "conveniently" mixing these two words:

Revelations 20:7-9
When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison, and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Yeah, lets name our game sites and search engines after a piss-weak army that gets annihilated in an instant. What is this supposed to be "cool" or something? Gog and Magog ... hahahahah ... pathetic! Why not just name the site "slimy worm" or "stinky pit rat" is basically means the same thing.

In the same way a Christian would get criticized and told not to bring religion here. I present this point, why is this satanic speech accepted, when it is clearly the same thing, from the opposite side of the coin?
