We also made a promise to bring you many more cult-classics in the future and, believe us, we did not forget.

Today, with great pride and joy, we're excited to announce Wave II of Lucasfilm games on GOG.com! Starting right now, six new Star Wars™ classics are available in our DRM-free Lucasfilm/Disney catalog. The Secret of Monkey Island™: Special Edition

Our Lucasfilm/Disney is made that much more impressive today thanks to our team-up with ©Disney Interactive. The 6 new Star Wars™ releases, which include 3 digital premieres exclusively on GOG.com, are barely the beginning. We're not saying more right now, but we know the wait will be worth it for six great reasons - keep watching the front page and stay tuned for more exciting Lucasfilm titles releasing on GOG.com when the timer strikes zero!

Why are these called digital premier when these games have always been digital and have always been distributed digitally?
I'm pretty sure the original X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and Dark Forces were never distributed digitally, at least not when they were released.

Th ones with the Digital Premiere tag have never been distributed in a digital form but only in retail :)

I think that "digital distribution" of the PC version refers to the option to purchase them as download.

So you claim these games used to be analog? Do you have any proof of this?

The retail versions, bought in store, were still digital. I think you mean "online" instead of "digital".

You don't have to be so defensive. :D
No I don't have any proof, but then I don't have any proof I exist either but I'm not going to dispute it. :P

My point is that these games have always been digital and distributed digitally. GoG has misused the term "digital" when they meant to say "online". GoG have brought these games into ONLINE distribution debut. Or INTERNET distribution debut.

I would bet that it have been possible to order the discs through online stores somewhere.

"Digital distribution" however, generally means "downloads" (perhaps even "streaming", I'm not sure). Shipping a disc is analogue (and offline) distribution for a digital storage media.

"Online distribution" is also called "digital distribution".
And if I as a non-native speaker can understand what GOG means you can be sure they chose a term that is easy enough to understand.
Or are you just trying to be anal retentive about it?

This was my point, but as anyone who knows me can testify, 99% of what I say comes directly out of my ass, so I apologize of I was misleading and or wrong with this one. :D

Piranjade: "Online distribution" is also called "digital distribution".
And incorrectly so, because the term digital means data encoded in some quantized form, such as binary. However, because the term "digital" sounds cool and techy, various people and companies over the years have turned it into a marketing buzzword and misused it, creating monstrously inaccurate terms people use today such as "digital distribution," distorting it's meaning. Similar to how marketers have created the horrible term "organic food."

This is not a matter of anal retentiveness, but a matter of retaining the integrity of language and it's ease of understanding and learning. However, on an unrelated note, I do happen to be constipated because I haven't been eating enough vegetables.
