This has nothing to do with GOG (except that I would be pleased to see LEI on GOG), but I know there are lots of "veteran players" present on this forum, so I give it a try.

I'd like to play LEI on a Windows 10 PC (64b), but haven't found a way to get beyond the main menu. When I try to start a new game or run the tutorial, it loads for a second or so, then an error message pops up telling me that certain instructions can't be executed (together with a lengthy error protocol - it's possibly a DirectX issue). I tried compatibility settings, but with no success.
For your information: All i know is that LEI works under Vista, I have no experience with running it under newer OS.

Can anyone help?

I'm not sure if you are still interested in LEI playing. In fact I have not too much to add as a working solution.
I bought LEI some years ago but have never been playing it. In May I upgraded my PC using new hardware, but still the same Win10 (April version), so I had to check mailny game and soft installation mainly and in the end I decided to add LEI.
I didi that today and to my surprise everything is working so far. I only installed patches up to 1.08. I had one crash after changing resolution before applying patches. So far I am playing tutorial. Maybe the problems are still ahead, maybe it is a sort of luck……

Yes I am - and thanks for replying. I hadn't touched LEI after I had written the post you replied to. Encouraged by your experience I installed LEI again, and, surprise, it worked, at least for a couple of moves, out of the box, patches 1.03 and 1.08 (which is the latest one - created by a player, authorised by the developers, by the way) applied, no compatibility settings. My guess is that the problem was resolved by a Windows patch.
The game is huge and takes some getting used to, but is worth the effort in my opinion, if you like turn-based space games with huge galaxies. Have fun!
Does anyone know why the old Paradox Forum of LEI shows the number of threads, but doesn't show the titles and contents of these threads (I ticked "forever" under "threads with last post from")?
