Strijkbout: Still, I don't have any games on Android so I have to invest in that too.
That's why I have been buying those Humble Android Bundles for some time already, just in case I'd end up playing more on Android (yet to happen). :) They are also DRM-free which is nice of course. You get a bunch of Android games for a buck or two.

And then there are the free-to-play games on Google Play as well, I guess they are an option as time-wasters as well. When some f2p game starts becoming too annoying as it tries to get you buy stuff with microtransactions, just switch to some other f2p game. :)

Strijkbout: Also a problem is I have zero knowlegde about what phone to get.
Doesn't really matter that much IMHO. The phone will be obsolete and broken in two years anyway, if for no other reason that the battery dies and it is hard to find an exact replacement battery.

I now have a pretty cheap Samsung J5 phone and I guess it is ok for Android games too. In fact I'd say don't invest too much money on a phone, you'll be replacing it in a few years anyway, with a cheap model that is much more powerful than the high-end models they had back when you bought your previous phone...
Thanks everyone,

I'm getting me a proper smartphone, as it seems the most economical thing to do for me because besides the holiday I'll probably have not a lot of use for a handheld anyway.

Since that's your choice, you might want to look at the Android version of Crashlands. You have the optional ability to use cloud saves to switch between the PC version sold here and the Android version. (I stress optional because you will need to create an account with the developer to enable cross-platform saves.)
