Found out about this thread quite a while back but finally decided to chime in and say thanks for all the contributions. I don't think the Discord invite works anymore though. Anyway, I do have a question, has anyone put forth the idea of contacting support to have them manually unlock achievements, or is that ill-advised? I say ill-advised because I found out that the GOG user base has uh.. strong feelings about achievements/trophies (which no, I'm not asking opinions for nor care about) making this a "low-priority" issue.

Support closed my ticket very recently after going back and forth with them for a month, and they manually unlocked some bugged achievements for Bear with Me and En Garde! These two are the only games I've talked to them about but seeing as how I have quite a few listed in the spreadsheet, I'm sure I'll be contacting them again in the future unfortunately sighs.

As long as it's the last resort, I don't see an issue with it. I've heard of at least one person who had bugged achievements unlocked by a support agent. Personally, I've had one achievement "refreshed" (an achievement I'd already unlocked was manually unlocked again). It didn't help with the particular problem I had, but I still appreciate the effort.

alexandros050: Watch over Christmas seems to have some broken achievements. I tried unlocking "Naughty Cisco" but It didn't unlock.
Did you happen to try again to unlock it? Its rarity is apparently 4.3%, so not as low as I would expect from a completely broken achievement. I'll keep an eye on it before indicating it's completely non-functional.

As far as I can see, Patias' Discord invite should still work.

As for unlocked achievements by GOG staff, it's a service offered by GOG support because they know they have many broken achievements. In the end it's up to you, I always hope the devs fix the bugs, but unfortunately there are more cases where they do nothing.

Yes tried again even restarted my PC but still nothing. Maybe that 4.3% is from the dev when he tested the achievements because it seems many of the achievements have a % of 4.3 and 6.4%

EDIT: The achievement unlocked once I reverted to version 2.07. The newest version seems to be the problem. Don't have time to check the rest of achievements right now but maybe the new version was the problem.

Weird, the invite link wasn't working when I tried it last night but it's good now.

Ah that makes more sense now. Yeah, I can see why. I'm sure over the years enough support tickets were sent in that they started offering this. It's a shame that it's led to this though. But this brings me to another question, over at the Mafia forums, someone suggested that it's possible to enable achievements through I'm guessing database editing. This is to enable them but what about manually unlocking? I dabbled in editing the gameplay.db file for several games but doesn't do anything (partially why I ended up contacting support). At least now I know that GOG achievements can't be cheesed like on Steam with SAM lol.

I got the idea of contacting support about manual unlocks after seeing an old post in this thread. Maybe it was the same person lol. Interesting. I've never heard of an achievement "refreshing" before. Which game was this?

I've read that this is actually an ongoing problem. Referring back to Mafia, they found that achievements work with old versions of Galaxy but not the latest.

I'll try to break down what happened with Unto the End:
1. The game had achievements, but they were invisible. This happens occasionally, when developers forget to switch achievements from development to production mode upon releasing the game. So I contacted the developer and he promptly addressed the issue.
2. I was unable to unlock a secret achievement, and I could find no mention of it in any guide online, so I asked the developer about it. He'd forgotten to remove a test achievement he'd added for testing purposes.
3. When you reach certain achievement milestones, you get a nice little progress card on your profile page. I had no way to get the 100% card, because I'd reached 100% achievements via the developer deleting the bugged achievement. That's when the support agent "refreshed" one of my achievements, to see if it would generate that 100% milestone card on my profile page.
4. Since then, the game has been updated to include new achievements. Therefore, I should be able to get that 100% card eventually.

I'll add a couple of things to this post that's already too long-winded. Firstly, the developer was extremely nice and blazingly fast with his replies. He even offered to add an achievement just so I could reach the 100% milestone. I declined, since that sounded like too much effort, and I was concerned it might mess things up for other players.
Secondly, even with presumably bug-free games, on occasion, the system fails to generate those milestone cards on the profile page for no apparent reason. One instance I'm still bitter about is The Witcher 3, which I sank hundreds of hours into. Support said they have no way to edit the profile page manually and that was it -- no suggestions to try or promise to fix this sort of issue in the future.

Mafia is the only instance I've seen of achievements only working in GOG Galaxy 1.2. As for game updates breaking achievements, I've come across that issue roughly twice. I have another 2 games with broken achievements that will never be fixed (Deus Ex and Journey to the Savage Planet). To put things into perspective, I have a library comparable in size to yours, and I've played nearly half the games I own.

Edit: fixed typo.
