I have this problem with my desktop with Linux Mint with no text appearing on my calendar and my wifi settings icon on the bottom right corner. Rather than posting this on the general Linux FAQs, I chose to post it here so that anyone else having this issue could see it and solve it should someone find a solution to this.

What should be done to solve this issue?

LInux Mint 18.3 with the Cinnamon desktop.

Further details available upon request.

The same thing happens with me. Not sure if it is a theme or font issue of some kind. In my case I can see the text after highlighting it. Maybe it's the same for you.

It seems to be on the header/titles that you are unable to select. I could hover my cursor over it but that does nothing to make the text visible. The only workaround for me is restarting the computer, however, when I put it to sleep/suspend, the text disappears again. I put my computer to sleep often so it would be awesome in case there is a solution.

Thank you, anyway.

There is a big chance that one of the fonts have their size set to 0. Check the Fonts settings.

I've attached the picture of the font settings. They are unchanged.
