I was hoping to get a little shout out and support from the GOG staff, Programmers or Sales people to make this platform the home of the best ever made golf series Links LS (earlier versions were also known as Links 386).

I still have the original game and all add on courses for the best in the series Links LS 2000. It is by far the pinnacle of PC golf gaming. For almost 20 years now there has yet to be a golf title that even comes close to the Links LS Series. I would gladly donate all of my original media that I still own for Links LS 2000 to become a reality here on the GOG Platform. So aspiring PC golf gamers of today can experience the best ever made. The 1991 version was voted as the Best Sports Game of the Year or something along those lines. The only other game I can think of winning an award back in the 90's was NHL '95. Still the best hockey game ever (on the Sega Genesis).

The only game around today that even comes close to the Links LS series is "Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf". And it is sketchy to say the least. NONE of the "Tiger Woods" golf games ever came close to the Links LS Series. Many more have tried over the last few decades but have been woefully disappointing. The LS Series was able to keep a ladder ranking system website up and active for almost 20 years. Hard for any game made today to keep players' interest for that long (maybe NWN is the only other one) on a site dedicated to a PC golf game.

I highly suspect that there are quite a few PC Gaming Golfers out there just waiting for a worthy game once again. Look no farther...Links LS 2000 is your reprieve!

Yes, I agree and I always wondered why no one had made a decent Golf game.
So to get this particular game you have to…

Get a publisher agreement with Microsoft who appear to be the current rights holders, check the Take-Two attic for cobwebs, clear the rights of any extant golf courses included in the game, and then finally start debugging the engine of a game from 1999.

And that's only a loose estimation. there may well be music and sound rights to be worked out too.

Don't forget re-licensing the commentators and golfers included in the game...

Or you could go to Links Country Club and buy the 2003 version.

WOW! Thanks for the info that this does exist!

I'm seriously tempted right now as there really isn't any golf game that comes close to Links 2003.

I really don't understand why people who have right to sell stuff like this dwell in low-visibility shops rather than selling the games on Steam or GOG?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you think I was making it up? Sorry.....that wasn't necessary.

You make it sound like this is the only game on GOG to ever have to go through this process. Uh hundreds of others have had to do this. Well worth the effort to me... Can't speak for you but my sense tell me you could care less.

He's saying that even if the likely rightsholders were willing to release it (or anything...) DRM-free here, the money and time (which also equals money) that it would take for everyone to get everything in not only legal, but technical, order to re-release it would most likely be considered "not worth it", considering the likely low return on those investments.

This thread is an exact example why I hardly post to any forum anywhere. All I did was request a game. Had no interest in peoples personal business practices. Topic was not even about that. I'm done.

I'm sorry reality is ugly and you fail to understand how the way Microsoft goes might be slightly opposed to the DRM Free Way.

Maybe, just maybe you should of kept your personal opinion to yourself and not just come in here to troll as you are doing again with this smart arse answer. Or you could make another thread to have me banned again as the last one didn't do all that good.
