Darvond: I mean that's exactly the point; why is the one cop nice, and why are you even playing ball to their game?
Because it's a paramilitary checkpoint with tanks. And the cop is a human being.
Maybe something from this bundle?

Darvond: I'm going to argue that CP2077 is anti-punk, and misses the point as I outlined in my opening post.
Honestly I am not sure if it's mean to be a troll or if you are actually "serious", but if it's the later than I think you have a very "tumblr" vision of what is Cyberpunk, it's not evil corporations and corrupted cop vs some rebel force fighting for freedom.

A lot of Cyberpunk stories depicts a world where, there yes, the government and police is corrupt, controlled by corporation, but on the other side you have ruthless gang, and the self proclaim "freedom fighters", when they exists, are either as morally bankrupt or so naive that they end up causing the death of all who follow them, there are no real "good" side. Not to mention some stories where the main character(s) are actually cops or part of the military themselves (e.g. Ghost in the Shell) or even working for one of the corporations. Most stories are not about changing / improving those world but simply about living or surviving in it.

And as far as your example goes, having the cops offering money to random armed individual to go "neutralize" gang member without caring about the methods they use or due process, is, if anything, very cyberpunk.

On the other hand,
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction in a dystopian futuristic setting that tends to focus on a "combination of low-life and high tech" featuring advanced technological and scientific achievements, such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics, juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order. Much of cyberpunk is rooted in the New Wave science fiction movement of the 1960s and 1970s, when writers like Philip K. Dick, Roger Zelazny, John Brunner, J. G. Ballard, Philip José Farmer and Harlan Ellison examined the impact of drug culture, technology, and the sexual revolution while avoiding the utopian tendencies of earlier science fiction.
This thread belongs in the Cyberpunk section.
Reading the thread title I thought it was going to be about games with actual punks, you know, mohecans and tartan bondage pants.

And ? how does it change anything I said and how is it not related to Cyberpunk 2077 ?

You were saying in a manner of phrase, that my definition of Cyberpunk must have been hogwash, so I gave you a definition.
Mass Effect 2 is more Cyber punk than this game.

Omega felt just how I'd imagine an updated Cyber punk game would be.

and I'm not stranger to cyber punk theme.

Having played Rise of the Dragon on the SEGA CD in my youth.
