Well here's an interesting one: Wyoming police to hand out money to those doing good deeds.

Apparently police got a large donation so they could decide on people to give money to, either people in need, or those helping people, or just following the traffic laws.
“I have received cash from some anonymous donors to give out to people prior to the holidays,” Teton County Sheriff Jim Whalen told the Jackson Hole Daily.

Sheriff Whalen wouldn’t disclose how much money was donated but said there’s enough for officers to hand out $50 to $100 at a time.

Deputies, officers and troopers will be on the lookout this month for people doing good deeds, Whalen said.
I remember hearing before about citizens getting pulled over by the police, to give out turkeys as thanks.

Austrellia zookeeper punches Kangaroo.
The fellow hunter said he was dumbfounded by the reaction in Australia and left wondering why some were happy for the dog to be injured but not the kangaroo.

'The video went viral in America and there was not one bad comment, and then it goes crazy in Australia and there's a whole bunch of outrage,' he said.
Well protecting one's dog is the right thing to do. At least a light slap/punch was all the Kangaroo got, these were hunters after a wild boar, the Kangaroo could have been dealing with much worse than a single light punch. Video footage suggests the Kangaroo is far more confused and stunned than anything else.

EROTICA STORE EMPLOYEES CHASE OFF ARMED ROBBER WITH SEX TOYS...

Well I think the title says it all....
Two feisty employees of a San Bernardino sex shop fought off an armed robber, yelling at him and throwing sex toys to chase him out of the store empty-handed.
The article goes on she didn't think it was a real gun, regardless they threw toys until he fled empty handed. Supposedly there's also security footage, but my old browsers don't like Twitter video so I'll just assume it's there

Chewbacca Is Collared By Police Force
A former employee of a Florida vending machine company dressed up in a Chewbacca costume and stole money from a pair of kiosks he previously maintained.

According to investigators, Darren Pickrem, 56, took a total of $623 from a pair of vending machines operated by Florida Fresh Vending.

Pickrem was “terminated” by the vending company two months ago, cops report. And while he knew enough to wear a disguise, Pickrem inexplicably allowed cameras to get a shot of his face.

<span class="bold">DUI</span> charge... for <span class="podkreslenie">caffeine</span>??

A man is fighting DUI charges after breathalyzers show 0% alcohol. Once booked he had a blood sample drawn to check for drugs/substances. However the only result that came up was caffeine.
The toxicology report came back negative for benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, THC, carisoprodol (a muscle relaxant), methamphetamine/MDMA, oxycodone, and zolpidem.

The sample was screened a second time by a laboratory in Pennsylvania, according to documents provided to the Guardian, where the sole positive result was for caffeine – a substance likely coursing through the veins of many drivers on the road at any given time.

California vehicle code defines a “drug” as any substance besides alcohol that could affect a person in a manner that would “impair, to an appreciable degree” his ability to drive normally.

It’s really stupid” said Jeffrey Zehnder, a forensic toxicologist who frequently testifies in court cases.

Man charged with having a bag of meth, released after it was determined to be kitty litter
The problem came after two field tests, performed by deputies, came back positive for meth.

Later a third test was conducted by the county's forensic lab which revealed that the kitty litter was not a controlled substance. The case was later dismissed.
Kitty litter isn't a controlled substance? Wow.... :P

Gambler drinks 27 rum and cokes, and falls off his stool

The title sounds stupid and reporting it sounds just as stupid as 'snake crosses road'. However the context is that serving an obviously drunk patron alcohol is illegal; In this article one casino is getting fined.
It's the kind of state regulation that many people aren't aware of largely because it's rarely enforced, but Pennsylvania's casinos are not permitted to serve alcohol to visibly intoxicated gamblers.

It's one that Mount Airy Casino apparently violated 18 times in one day. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wednesday fined Mount Airy $25,000 for an Oct. 7 incident in which three bartenders served 27 drinks in nine hours to a man who was playing a table top slot machine in its Glass Bar, including 18 drinks after the man was visibly drunk. The man, whom the casino did not identify, ended up falling off his bar stool and resisting arrest by state police.

I really need to find more news of beavers entering dollar stores...

Pet Squirrel goes nuts on burglar

Seems a burglar tried to get into a man's gun safe, but his pet squirrel named 'Joey' attacked them until they left. They had scratches on their face and admitted to being attached by a squirrel, which led to an arrest of the would-be thief.
Now Joey is being hailed a hero.

Nobody can believe it because who can say they have a squirrel that guards their house, which is crazy

From the looks of it, face to face fanboy argument led to murder and... worse... for no real good reason.

Earning $160,000 for a software engineer in silicon valley, is 'scraping by' and poor.

Seems prices in California/San Fransisco is so bloated that $160k isn't enough to really get ahead. And for software, you'd think they could do the work in their house, get a small house somewhere outside the high expensive zone and then have to commute once a week for big meetings, since you can just use the internet to transmit software changes that you are working on (unless they have a model computer/dev kit for a specific system that you need to test/work on).
One Apple employee was recently living in a Santa Cruz garage, using a compost bucket as a toilet. Another tech worker, enrolled in a coding bootcamp, described how he lived with 12 other engineers in a two-bedroom apartment rented via Airbnb. “It was $1,100 for a fucking bunk bed and five people in the same room. One guy was living in a closet, paying $1,400 for a ‘private room’.”

“We make over $1m between us, but we can’t afford a house,” said a woman in her 50s who works in digital marketing for a major telecoms corporation, while her partner works as an engineer at a digital media company. “This is part of where the American dream is not working out here.”

“We think a lot about how people with normal jobs afford to live here,” said the Canadian IT specialist. “The answer is: they don’t. They commute from farther and farther afield.”
As much as i want to be a software engineer, i don't want to be 'scraping by' making over $100k a year.
