Crystal Dynamics has a survey out for a potential upcoming new entry to the Legacy of Kain series.

The survey link: http://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7017965/Legacy-of-Kain-franchise-survey

I would love to see this be an open world action RPG, just the most amazing vampire game to date.

Either way if you are interested in helping steer the development of the new entry, remake, reboot, or whatever they're planning, I highly recommend under the system you'd like to see it released on you check other and write in gog.com.

Let's help get this new entry on day 1!

A new game would be sweet, but I'd rather see a spin-off rather than a continuation of the old story-line. Remakes of the original console ports would also be nice, with a revamped save system hopefully. The original one (made for consoles and never adapted on PC) was atrocious for short play sessions. That's the only gripe I ever had with these exceptional games, really.
Yeah, not sure continuing where Defiance left off is a good idea. There is like a 2% chance they'd do it right. Not to mention that some of the key voice actors (Elder God, Janos Audron) are sadly no longer among us and it would absolutely require Amy Hennig to come back to it for it to be written in a sensible way. And even then, to be honest, the constant time travelling was just confusing more often than not.

So yeah, a side-story or something like that would probably be for the best. I wouldn't focus it on the Kain-Raziel plot, as that's been ended pretty well and very open to interpretation.

Ick Open world...

I want a sequel first, and a remaster or remake of LOK Blood Omen/series reboot second. I put that gameplay like Jedi Fallen Order (good sword combat with telekinetic skills integrated smoothly) and atmosphere like Dark Souls (Dark, hopeless apocalyptic world with shifting realities as of DSIII) would be great. I prefer story focused with moderate puzzle solving and platforming. Jedi Fallen Order also has the Metroidvania aspect going for it that you get movement skills that allow you further access to earlier areas which is a fun aspect of LOK.

I'd eat a game like that up.
The original Soul Reaver has been set to "Upcoming" for about a year now. Is the game getting a remake?

The original one, that is on GOG right now and I had the original physical disc PC release? It was definitely on PC.

It was rumored to be getting a remaster or remake, It was supposed to be down for a very short while, but it was taken off Steam and GOG over a year ago now. I don't know what's happening with it. Could be that Crystal Dynamics decided to do something with it after getting the rights to the series back from Squeenix, and Squeenix doesn't have the rights to put it back up for sale, so it's hanging in a limbo situation.

As for the gameplay question (29), I'm probably going to put in Darksiders. I feel like they have enough similarities and I really enjoyed all the Darksiders games.

Not really sure what to put in the tone question (30). Probably gonna leave blank. Can't really think of anything that would fit.

Yes it was. People often assume a game was a console only release because they played it on a console or it released on a console some time before the PC version was released. I'm seeing that happen very often.

I was talking about the original Soul Reaver, and particularly about its save system, which was designed with the PlayStation in mind. I meant the save system was never adapted to PC in the sense that you couldn't save at any point in time, which is quite possible on PC in theory.

I'm well aware all the games had PC releases.

Not the case here tho'... I never had a console to play games on in the first place :). PC master race since day 1.

Soul Reaver was here, before it was taken down. Soul Reaver was not the first game, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen was. But Soul Reaver released on PSX on August 16, 1999. It released on Windows on September 8, 1999. It was virtually a simultaneous release at that time. I later released on Dreamland in January (February for EU) 2000. Any other inaccurate statements you want to make? The save system used in the game is quite common both on consoles and PC for a long while.

I know, I own the game and finished it 3 times already :). On a PC.

I know... I own the game and finished it twice already :). On a PC.

...when did I say anything different? Huh?

... not sure I made any so far, tho'? The comment I made that you replied to meant to say I never ever owned a console, so I was never aware what got a console release back in the day and what game didn't. I simply never played games on consoles. Period.

Not really. A checkpoint-based save system was traditionally a console-driven thing and only games that targeted both platforms usually adopted one. I'm sure there are certain exceptions, but in the case of Soul Reaver I guarantee you it was done this way because of how PSX saves worked.

Not that I'm infallible or anything, but it would be nice to actually read what I'm writing before putting any words in my mouth. Accuse me of inaccuracies all day long, and I may even amaze you by admitting it :P, but at least do it fairly.

Sure! I don't mind checkpoint systems. But it does seem to be mostly on games with console releases. I'm also not afraid to admit when I'm wrong, such as when I misread your post.

No worries :P.

I didn't mind it either back in the day, at least not that much, but as my life got more hectic, it has become really hard to commit to even 30 mins of play time to reach the next checkpoint. Not to mention power outages and other "happy" incidents of the sort...

Auto-saves on dialogue sequences and manual saves in a remaster/remake would be more amazing than any HD texture pack, IMHO.

Im not sure what theyre planning, but you have a chance to influence what they do by completing the survey.

I didnt advocate for anything more than you checking other and writing in gog.com under the systems youd like to see it released on.

Personally with the past five years of reboots and remakes Im very skeptical of them reanimating any corpse, but assuming theyd do a good job with it I only hope its released here, an action rpg, and open world. But thats just what Id like to see

Crap, didn't think about adding GOG in the "other" section. If they remake the old games or if they continue the story, I just hope they respect the originals, I think the world and the story are amazing, and I'd be saddened if they decided to mess with those for a quick buck. I really, REALLY love the first Soul Reaver, especially the atmosphere, the way you traverse the environment and the boss battles.
The kane and lynch X Kain crossover comes ever closer...but it's cool they're taking ears. The series/world shouldn't be buried with Nosgoth
