That's two of my previous home towns savaged. I love Paris, for sure - but I love Brussels even better.

Chaotic, cosmopolitan, open, tolerant, affordable at times, but not always - and for a small city, what a vibrant cultural life, what night-life, what chance to hear almost every language each week, and meet up!

That's the point of the attack, of course. To try and change it - but it will fail, certainly, long play. Of this, I am happily confdient.
Brussels is one of the greatest cities in the world. I was there in early December 2007 and loved it. The people were very friendly and helpful despite my awful french language skills. One of my fondest memories was watching a sort of light show of snow falling being projected into a gorgeous building (I think it was the town hall but i'm not certain).
That such an atrocity could be commited in that city and to its people is appaling.

Just THANK YOU Siegor for consoling me, by sharing my sense of Brussels. Which is loving BXL, and this place is way cool!

I lived there for five years, and besides my native Finland, I think Brussels is thus far the most welcoming place where I have ever been. Finland would unfortunately not return the favour quite so universally, let that be said.

"Grande Place," or main square, I suspect? There is a town hall in each community of BXL, after all...

The attack was quite intentional - to replace love of Brussels by fear.
