Apologies if this was mentioned in another thread. The great minds behind "Kult", of which the Heretic Kingdoms games are loosely based off of, has a kickstarter till the end of the month for a new edition of Kult - Kult: Divinity Lost. This is a tabletop RPG ruleset which has already met its pledge goal.

Please check it out and show these guys support. Kult was the first horror RPG I've ever played. The universe is modern day and is based around the philosophy that what you can't see CAN hurt you. You're liable to fight a demon or incubus, but dragon's are nowhere in sight, if you catch my drift.

I hope all you tabletoppers at least check the kickstarter out. $60 USD gets you a hardcover copy of the ruleset and digital copies of a few goodies, as well as all digital and physical stretch goals.

I read it like "Kult:Divinity" Lost the kickstarter as if they couldnt get enough money. Thanks. I will check it out.
Holy crap...

I've loved that game for years now. Never thought it'd come back, but always hoped.

Thank you very much for passing the information along, didn't even know it was being rebooted until reading your post. =)
Glad to see at least a few people are interested :) The original game made me change my philosophy on life, in a good way.

Really? What was it in the game that changed you and how did you change?

At the risk of offending atheists in the crowd, it made me think on my philosophy on life and whether or not I wanted to continue on the path of being an asshole and troll (I used to start flamewars for fun) or if I wanted to become a better person. This all happened several years after I initially played the game, though. It left a lasting impression on me. I had to decide if I wanted to be a "good guy" or just out for self.

These days I try to be nice to everyone, and I try to show respect, even if people don't always respect me. It's a challenge, but I'd like to think there's something beyond this life, and I'd like to think the good deeds I do have a ripple effect and make the world (or at least my community) slightly less shitty.
For clarification, the game itself does not promote either shitty behavior or "goody two shoes" behavior. I just used my example of how the original version changed my life to explain. Also, mini bump to give people a chance to see this in case they missed it yesterday.
Thought there would be more interest in this. Mini bump for the rpg'ers out there :)

Oh, there's interest.^^ I was just already aware of it and am not a very talkative person by nature. Plus, I'm waiting for the German version.

Ah, ok. :) Makes sense.
Bump! There's about 11 more days left to pledge. Just a heads up.
Last bump (I think) - roughly 6.5 more days to pledge for this awesome piece of rpg goodness.
Is this based on the RPG where all your powers have a cost? I.e. you can get a power, says mind-reading but in exchange you have serious issues. And your powers are stronger the more messed up you are. Is that the game?

You would have to look into the website and see what it says. Typically in the Kult universe, a bad ass power would come with a side effect, if memory serves.

As an atheist myself, I can say that being a better person does not require any sort of religion. Being a bad person doesn't require it either, though there is a strong correlation there, however.

The way I see it, religion is commonly used to justify horrible acts.

In any case, I do try to respect people, provided those people show me a reasonable amount of respect.

Incidentally, one game that left a lasting impression on me was the NES version of Ultima 4.
