j0ekerr: snip
We'll talk when you've reached the "daggers, rapiers, swords and long swords"-stage.
I've got quite a collection... most of it blunt, superbly balanced and perfectly build for training though.
It's always funny, that the best and expensive ones usually look the most simple due to focus on ultimate efficiency. :)

hudfreegamer: I keep my keys in my wallet, and my pocket knife too.

Then I also carry a larger spyderco salt knife that clips to my pocket. It's rust proof.

I'd prefer the smaller Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt, though. The regular Salt knife is really big and I think I'd prefer a smooth edge more than a serrated edge. The prices have gone up though and I don't want to spend $95 on a knife.
Considering I'm on a budget, If I went for a larger knife I'd get the tenacious or the persistence. The Kershaw Chill is also very nicely priced. That said, I want a small knife, to the point I want the tinker S over the normal one. Now I know.
And knowing is half the battle.
The other half is bullets.

hyperagathon: The difference between Tinker Small and Tinker is barely noticeable (the long blade and bottle opener are a bit shorter), so if you're looking for something to carry in your pocket, Tinker Small looks like the logical choice. It's a far cry from being some small miniature thing that's useless for anything.
Glad to know, plus I really prefer the smaller model.

Klumpen0815: Ahh, this festival in Phuket where people pierce their mouth with objects related to their job and parade themselves around this way. The soldiers are always a looker.
Why would you do that?!
Well if you know how to handle a knife, the fighting looks insane::

BTW: Whoever is interested in old middle European (mostly German) martial arts, some sources for dagger techniques from around here which have influenced modern knife styles:

We had a bit of this in my old HEMA club, although I was mostly into bigger stuff.

Tradition? Because you can? I've got no idea.

That's a great one. The end of Raid 2 wasn't too shabby either.
So working with a budget I've decided to order the thing online. Quite a good price I think, including shipping the Tinker S adds up to about 18€.

Masochism?
lol the urge the stab, play some stabbing games, it should kill the urge, carrying a knife around pocket and getting a urge to stab something will result in catastrophe, unless you are in a watermelon bazaar, then it will be stab, stab, suck, suck
Has 'Se7en' been mentioned yet?

Now that was a knife! :P

mikopotato: aww.. why not a balisong knife?
They were left in the 80s, along with nunchakus and saxophones.

I always felt balisong knives were flimsy, at least the ones I got to use. The blade would start getting more and more loose from the handle parts quite soon. I used to practice escrima.
It sounds to me like you are trying to work up to buying a sword. You should just buy a sword.
The navaja or Laguiole would make a traditional pocket knife.
