I don't recall seeing any mentions in the forum to this game: Knights of Light, an RPG in development set in the Middle East during the Middle Ages. You can check a video with early footage:

Despite their Kickstarter campaign failing, the studio (Rumbling Games) announced that they wil continue developing the game. I will be keeping an eye on them for a number of reasons. The setting is quite unique (Iraq in the 7th centyy), and with the developers being from Egypt we can expect a new level of historical accuracy, or at least, a fresh perspective. They also want to keep the fantasy elements "accurate", taking them straight from Sassanid folklore. Combat seems varied enough, with a character carrying up to four weapons at the same time, each with different attacks (as can be seen in the video). And last but not least, a DRM-free release has already been promised.

'Our dream project is an action adventure console game titled "Knights Of Light".'

Since they are billing this as a "console" game (their words), does this mean that they have no plans to release a PC version?

Also, this: "No release date has been set, but they are still hoping to get Sony as a publisher to make it a PlayStation exclusive and offer something new and interesting to the international market as well as proving Egypt’s presence in the gaming scene."

I remember when this was announced. Nothing I've seen inspires any confidence in their ability to manage such a big ambitious game, nor their ability to negotiate with a studio of any size.
Combat looks really brutal, with heads sliced off and flying through the air...bit tasteless imo.
Is it meant to be a game with heavy Islamic themes? I think that would limit its commercial viability in much of the world.
I know they probably have something very different in mind. But the first thing that came to mind when I saw the gameplay is Assassins Creed. I just can't see it doing very well against other action adventure games produced by so many other better established game companies.
