But does Anyone have any idea why randomly the screen size will mess up on the game... the first time was because I plugged it in the my HDTV. Then I reinstalled it and thought it was okay and I got shot and died in the game and it froze up a second then did the same thing?

Why did pc games never run as smoothly as console games?
Especially now that this game is so old and my laptop is an HP Windows 10 which should support it fine?
Back when I first got the game I bought a voodoo 3 3000 video card and it would still sometimes not work right.

Hi, lowly troll chiming in.

So, have you tried that patch mentioned by BreOl72?

mike_cesara: Interesting entry..
Anyway, grab the game here: Kingpin: Life of Crime and forget about problems ; p

Mrmonstar: What do you mean forget about problems?
The answer is before your very eyes.. or not.
I did play Kingpin on a telly and didn't experience any issues.
Perhaps there are other solutions but since you have no sense of humour.. I will plug hdmi to my laptop and enjoy Kingpin on a bigger screen ; p

i know that in kingpin you have to crouch, press shift and click a dead body to loot keys and money or stuff. i also know there's a widescreen mod which i tried myself, you can set any resolution you want, but i didn't finish game.. :-/

I know how forums work, I guess its all the same from firearms, gardening and to video games, you have to do the step of introducting yourself yada yada but I mean come on can't one just use the internet for what its "mostly" intended for {even if I actually take time to learn things} and get speedy answer. After all I just wanna play some Fing Kingpin brotha... Without the hassle and computing issues i had in the past of being
1. Not able to afford all the hardware,
and 2. Sucking at software stuff.

I feel like this game should be like putting a sega cart in and just picking up from 11 years ago, guess its not. However that said. I want to apologize for the comments I made about the trolling and what not I don't know you as a person and thats not nice of me. I was just hoping to get help fast especially if I am going to spend money on a digital version when I already own the hard copy.
Now this patch, I don't know what it is or what it does, and where to get it. I have a problem with wanting detailed answers to detailed questions so I understand what I'm doing.

1. If I own the original hard disk of the game is that the same as this GOG digital copy of the game?
2. If I had the GOG download of the game would I still need a patch?
3. Can anyone explain why the game does the freezing up and or when i plug it into HDMI port in my tv it is not full screen and not only that when i unplug it, it stays messed up on the laptop and when i try to exit and reboot the game the golden interplay blimp going around the planet intro is normal screen but the title screen that has START, OPTIONS etc is so big that i cannot even access the settings. And this was not only isolated to the plugging and unplugging of the HDMI but also on my laptop after I died in the game it froze...

If someone could educate me on what that is and why it happens I would love to learn and! get it fixed
1. Actually I had Kingpin installed on HDD from my hard copy of the game. When I grabbed digital one on GOG, imported folder with the game in Galaxy and some files were downloaded and replaced. Never checked which files to be honest. Bought the game here to keep safe my old CD.
2. I can't remember now if I played around with files more than editing config file to fit my needs and widescreen patch. I think the game works out of the box through HDMI
3. I'd rather blame your OS, settings, drivers or even all of them. I didn't experience any issues playing games on my laptop running Windows 7 connected to telly through HDMI except EAX sound, but that's another story..

edit:
First thing first, install dedicated GPU drivers, not the one provided by ms. To make sure your old drivers are uninstalled correctly, use Display Driver Uninstaller. If that doesn't help, play around with settings (GPU as well as in game), check if other games works through HDMI without any issues.
I'm using Windows only to play some games and have no clue about latest version of this OS, things shouldn't be much different though..

1. Judging from some posts on the subforum, CD version and GOG version are not exactly the same. I don't know how they differ, but GOG often make their own tweaks to ensure the game works on modern systems.

2. I have no idea. Those patches are unofficial and fan-made but they should not be necessary to run the game bought on GOG.

GOG on their part do all the can to assure the game works. If you buy it and it doesn't run well for some reason, contact Support. If they can't help you fix the game, you are eligible for a refund as stated in their Money Back Guarantee Policy. https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000487189-Money-Back-Guarantee-Policy

3. I can't explain why you have problems with your game. However, you're using a CD version of an older title on a modern system which may or may not have Intel integrated graphics, so it's not surprising something doesn't work. You can try:
-- running the game in a compatibility mode (right-click shortcut or executable -> Properties -> Compatibility tab -> select older version of Windows in Compatibility mode section)
-- this: http://kingpin.info/?e=619

As for resolution problems. I can't really explain them either, but you're trying to run an older title with 4:3 aspect on a modern widescreen displays. Additionally, your laptop and your TV may have different screen resolutions, and I suspect this may also mess things up. That's why BreOl72 suggested a fan-made patch allowing to set resolutions native to your displays.

In Kingpin subforum I've found links to at least three patches dealing with resolution of this game and other issues. They basically require you to unpack a file or two into main directory of the game and run them. They usually come with instructions in txt files.

Good luck.

Disclaimer: I don't have the game, I'm not using Windows, I've not tried any of mentioned patches, I don't know what I'm doing, does anybody know a way out?
man I just don't think I can figure this out on my own is there anyone that can help it seems more involved than it sounds and I tried downloading few things and windows upon windows and pages upon pages open I don't think I can do it....

If I download the game from GOG will I be able to pLAY with everything fixed?

or I can give someone a little money to skype me and walk me through it..
