WTF??? The game has been around for years and now they try to take it down?

But on the other hand it might even help the Kickstarter campaign of Jupiter Hell, because it pulls attention to it.

Probably because they only took proper notice of it until now, same with the Aliens one If the studio ever gets any significant money expect a lawsuit. That's what happens when you steal peoples brands without permission.

That'd be trademark infringement, not theft, which gets iffy since it's non-profit.

Either way, it doesn't matter as DoomRL is now DRL or D**mRL and has been released as open-source.
https://github.com/ChaosForge/doomrl

"The big news today is that D**mRL (or DRL as we may have to start calling it) is now open source! The plan was to release this upon conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign as a thank you to backers, but Zenimax® have pushed our hand.

D**mRL is available on GitHub, with some simple instructions on how to compile. More detailed instructions will come later. The code is in FreePascal, distributed under GPL 2.0. Derek Yu’s original artwork is released with the game under CC-BY-SA 4.0 license."

Stupid Zenimax, I threaten to boycott their games but I've already been doing that for a few years. Hoever, I'll continue to call the game DoomRL just to spite them (plus it's a cooler name anyway)

Thanks for the source code. I've actually had a renewed interest in roguelike coding over the past few weeks and this gives me more to study.
BUMP

3 days left, 10k to go.
It's ~53.000 now. It'll be a close call either way.
100% funded! Hell has been breached!

I hope it will breach GOGs curation as well :P

Congratulations on getting the funding! I never doubted that you'd make it.
And they will probably even make the first strech goal. Seven hours left and they just need another $600.
And they made it. Still 5 hours to go, maybe they can even reach the second one which is $ 3000 away (but I doubt it).
