lupineshadow: Surely the better question is, "What is the point of QuakeCon?"

No id Software.

No John Romero.

Last Quake was 2005 ... 20 years ago.

What are you selling? I guess for Doom and Doom II - 30 year old games. 30 years is one of the milestones in copyright law right?

I loved Quake but haven't played it in 25 years.

It is a dead series.
Well Quake Champions was released in 2017.
During QuakeCon Quake Champions (and other Quakes) tournaments take place, is relevant because is an official Bethesda major event especially if you take into account that the Quake Champions Pro League has been discontinued last year.

In case you haven't, you can watch the streams on twitch, sometimes some id veteran pops up to speak about that or this, like has happened for the release of that doom game everybody seems to ardently love.

But, yes, I agree, it's a shadow of its former self and a bit underwhelming to say the least.

GOG.com: QuakeCon 2024 ends on August 23rd, 7 AM UTC.
The sale ends tomorrow, on the 23rd, but the game cards of the included games tell me that the offer ends on the 26th. What's the point of creating such a mess?
