TARFU: In his defense, that jet lag article IS from the latimes, not exactly a hotbed of ultra-conservative conspiracy theory...

Mandrake, do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk... ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children's ice cream.
avatar
tinyE: Living where I do I get all of that stuff from the source and need not worry about the additives.

Oddly enough however, I'm a troll. I guess I just happen to be born with it.
1. You missed that joke, didn't ya? It was a movie quote...

2. I don't think you're a troll, just a wiseass. Trolls are a different breed entirely.

rtcvb32: Bias? Or Truth?

News is suppose to be truthful. There's a distinct lack of that right now in mainstream media.
Ahhhh, yes, I see. The "lying press". Never heard that one from conspiracy/right-wing nutjobs over here before.

50 supposedly anti-Trump journalists were doxed in one fell swoop this week, did you know? Which makes reporting on political issues in the US about as dangerous as on-site war reporting, I guess.

Your press is OK! You'll just have to stop dismantling freedom of the press systemically (Peter Thiel + cohorts on the legal and Chan culture on the illegal side of things) just for more Trump propaganda.

TARFU: I reckon. I think the best thing to do here is let him post his links and if you don't agree with the links, ignore and do not engage. If you agree, feel free to join in. Otherwise constantly replying and engaging him will just encourage further posting of links, much like what has happened with tauto/kleetus and their spamming/necroing.

Ignore, ignore, ignore.
The shame of it is, unlike with the others, I feel like he's a wasted opportunity. Perhaps it's more of a personal thing, but I hoped I could actually learn something from this guy. I enjoy debating with people who don't hold my own viewpoints since I can come to understand more about the world from them but...the more I look at it, the more I realize there's nothing to be understood or learned from him with the way he behaves about it all. Add to that the fact that he used to be a decent member, and it's downright pitiful.

Breja: You know, I've just seen Inferno, and it's even dumber and more nonsensical than the previous Dan Brown stories (which is quite an accomplishment)... and it still makes way more sense than anything rtcvbonkers32 ever posted here.
avatar
tinyE: Hey, I like Dan Brown. His books are fast and exciting.

That being said, I worked in a bookstore for ten years we kept all of his books in the Fiction section, right where they belong.
I liked Angels & Demons, at least as a mindless but fun action packed story, but Da Vinci Code was just a weaker version of the same thing, and The Lost Symbol was just terrible. I have not read Inferno because of that. Maybe the book is better, but the film is truly idiotic (though not quite as much as rtcvb :P). It's still fun in a way, if you're watching with friends and there is few enough people around so that you can make jokes and basically riff the movie. But it really makes stuff like National Treasure look like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in comparison :D

I don't want any propaganda. I want the truth, real journalism, fact checking that actually doesn't take a side on either one. You'll see it far more with RT, and overseas than in the US. Although local papers might be more honest than the big networks.

We'll just have to see how things change in the first year.

I agree, but being a denizen of the net for over twenty years, I can tell you that you can't argue with every or even MOST people you encounter because that way lies madness.

Part of it is due to the fact that much of human communication is visual (facial expressions, etc.) and trying to argue with words on a computer screen is a bit like talking to yourself/having an argument in your head and ultimately becomes a form of mental masturbation. In other words, the path to insanity.

If you want titanium armor skin like me, pick and choose your battles wisely and know that discretion is the better part of valor.

Don't look now, but every post you've made since September 9th is express propaganda. Most of it implicitly pro-Trump – though, of course, as I previously said, Trump can't dive into 9/11 truther territory because he saw all the Muslims celebrating in that video footage that only exists in his brain.

avatar
rtcvb32: fact checking that actually doesn't take a side on either one.
You already have that. That's part of the problem in the US, it's called the "bias for fairness". Checking and expressing facts will often demolish one "side" and automatically take the other. Not every issue has more than one balanced position. Not every story has two or more sides. Or rather: in some stories, one side is just nauseatingly stupid. And STILL you report on both as if it was a balanced issue.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dgBCjmiDrw

To put the whole thing in a nutshell, you're trying to prevent unbiased reporting here by adding thousands of in no way fact-checked additional viewpoints or sides that never deserved consideration.

rtcvb32: I want the truth,
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall -- you need me on that wall.

We use words like "honor," "code," "loyalty." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it.

I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand the post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!

You've done nothing but prove the exact opposite of that so far.

But at least I guess this confirms my point on that fact that you think you're somehow "truth" while everybody else is "bias". Looks like it's an ego thing for you?
Welp, that puts you in the "troll" book. Guess there's not much more I can do here...

Yep, good stuff. You know, I'm not a Tom Cruise fan either, but out of his movies I've watched recently (Jack Reacher, M.I. 4&5, The Edge of Tomorrow), I haven't seen a movie of his that I've hated or thought was crap.

Well that movie was on just last night and I've had that dialogue stuck in my head all day. How was I to know fucking Howard Hughes up there would land me an opportunity to use it. :P

Hey rtcvb, you wash your hands every five minutes and keep all of your urine in jars in your basement, right?
