k4ZE106: What's it with all the people on here ranting about the lack of cloud saving recently? Maybe I'm getting old and have been around long enough, but I always considered cloud saving to be the exception rather than the norm. If a game or service doesn't explicitely state that there is a cloud saving option, it's probably storing things locally. Like in olden days, long past when people used shiny disks to install games.
It is 2015. Non-cloud saving is the exception.

Cloud saving is a common feature but is not something to be assumed. Not even in 2015.

torvuseremita: Cloud saving and DRM free don't play very nice together, since cloud saving requires an Internet connection and a user account, and is reliant on the original distributor staying in business. I suppose a hybrid system (game saved on cloud but also saved locally) could work though.

Ritualisto: This is exactly how cloud saving works on Steam. It is optional (you can turn it on and off) and you have your savegames in the cloud and on your PC. I`m really looking forward the day GOG Galaxy offers cloud saving (optional).
Yeah, Steam Cloud is pretty much a synchronized backup copy of your saves. It even asks you if you want to use the local save or replace it with the cloud save when it spots a difference between the 2 of them. It's a pretty cool system, and I hope that galaxy will offer something similar.

Facepalm.

Zombysz: I had to start over 3 times.
(yes 3 times)
Just because i was cleaning my HDD.

F4LL0UT: If you're savvy enough to clean your HDD you should also be savvy enough to do backups. And three times? Really? I would understand your frustration if you had lost the saved games due to something you had no control over but seriously, wiping them yourself three times and whining about it is pretty weak.

Anyway, I WOULD welcome cloud saving and assume that we will have it eventually as an option.
This is why I have Crashplan backup folders that I don't think I need to have it back up. The only folders I don't have it back up are ones that I specifically know I won't need backed up.

Enebias: Not to be harsh, but... I don't think that moving your saves on a USB stick before cleaning the drive is much difficult or time consuming.
+1

Also he should have expected it after the first time it happen to him/her.
I like how after all that concealed swearing, the OP said "please".

Apparently they're not that tech savvy if it took them three purges to realise that they're wiping out their save-files of games they're currently playing, and should probably abstain from cleaning their HDD with whatever tool/ method they're using until they understand (better) what they're doing.

No offense, but didn't you learn your lesson after the first time?

1st time: "Uh, what just happened?"
2nd time: "Maybe I'm doing something wrong..."
3rd time: "Okay, what the hell is going on here?!?"

Actually, sounds like my first few sexual encounters way back when.

Well, sometimes saves get corrupted when you transfer them. This happened to my Witcher 2 save :D

I made the mistake of not moving over my dragon age 1 and 2 installs to the backup drive apparently. There goes a month's worth of bandwidth into oblivion. :P
