rampancy: Apart from Torment: Tides of Numenera, and Spiderweb Software's RPGs, have you looked into Pillars of Eternity?

almabrds: I've never played that.
Did you?
Is it any good?
PoE was actually intended to directly harken back to the old-school Infinity Engine-based, BioWare-style RPGs of old, like PS:T, IWD and BG/BG2.

I haven't gotten around to playing/getting it yet, but here's a Destructoid review: http://www.destructoid.com/review-pillars-of-eternity-289590.phtml

Of course, as with all reviews/videos, I suggest you take them with a grain of salt, and also look at reviews from the GOG store page, Steam reviews, etc.

Look into Torment: Tides of Numenera once it makes wide release.
The new Shadowrun 'trilogy' is pretty story-heavy with lots of character dialogue to read, especially Dragonfall DC.

The "Mask of the Betrayer" expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2 is a bit similar to PS:T in themes and atmosphere, though not as long and detailed by far.

There are some pretty good epic custom campaigns for Neverwinter Nights, most notably The Prophet series (which at the time when I played it, I considered second only to PS:T, because I found the story so gripping and engrossing), but the Aielund Saga or Sanctum of the Archmage are worth a look, too, among many others. Neverwinter Nights has loads of story-heavy campaigns with rich background (just don't play the official campaigns, they're bland in comparison).

almabrds: You remember who was the NPC you talked to?
If so, I'll use that dialogue option.
I'm curious to see what happens.
hmmmm, it's early in the game, maybe during the quest for SGS to open the vault doors at GMS (though unrelated to the quest) ? It might be the raider leader on the 3rd level? Or the guy you talk to about saving them from the raiders if you want (on the 3rd level?)

if I remember more clearly I'll post again
