Oi

So I've just came across a review that very clearly goes beyound the 2k sign limits of the storepage. With Blizzard-guerrilliamarketing too boot in it.
Was wondering how that would be possible, seeing how the 2k limit might be a nice catalyst to keep it short and concise, but is still oftentimes a harsh limitation as it impacts things like formatting of the text aswell.

Would also be hillarious to now find out that there is a class-divide of users. Would honestly be the final NAIL IN THE coffin for this reviewsystem here, imo.

Anyway, cheers for the soon to come enlightenment

Edit:
Wow, I seem to be even unable to delete this post and repost it as a question, after I forgot to check the mark.
Seriously thought that "BRK FRM" meme was just that, a meme.
But this is honestly outrages.
Forums and reviewsystems are usually the places where you find those customers that take the time and engage with both, the product and the store. And here we are, in a place where basic functionalities are not provided, when the same functionalities are implemented by amatuers with the help of the likes of Joomla, easily.
GoG is a goddamn company, not a fucking band of hobos trying to just tag along for some dimes a day. This is unprofessional.
If this wasn't the only place to get older games and DRM-free versions of current ones, I'd be gone by now.
I won't be makeing a lot of negative word of mouth for GoG, but I certainly won't make postive word of mouth eiher from now on. /rant

1. There wasn't always a character limit. I'm not sure when the limit was implemented, but there's gotta be at least two or three years' worth of reviews from the old "however long you wanna make it, man!" days.
2. There are apparently workarounds. I think I had heard that composing the review in another text-editing environment (e.g., a proper word processor), then copying and pasting it into the review composition window, is a way to get around the limit. (Haven't tried it.)
So there's no "class-divide of users". (Unless you count "users have been users for a long time" and "users who prefer to write their reviews in proper WP software" as elite classes. :P )
I have NO interest in reading a review that is longer than 2000 characters. :P

I think it may even be easier than that... I've never really used the review system but I did have a poke about with it back when I first made my script, and I seem to remember that there isn't actually a limit, it just tells you there is. So you can type and submit a review greater than 2000 words.

I'd test it but I'm in my phone and it doesn't even let me type in the review box..

2000 characters? Some people can't read an entire tweet, I know I can't remember the last time I finished reading a tweet.

It's a review from the 17th sept.
on the game shadows: awakening
it's 4422 characters long.
It's the "dull diablo" review. If anyone want's to see for themselves.

I also allready do prewrite my reviews. It's just that the moment you copy it into the window, your characters are instantly counted up. If the value turns up <0, the button greys out.
So unless there's maybe some trickery where I am supposed to paste in some unicode-lines, I'm still gobsmacked by how that review was possible.
Can it be caused by the majestic "Galaxy"-platforms implementation of the forum and storepage?

I mean, look at this.

Happily, Blizzard are promising big Diablo news later this year (2018) so we fans might soon find better ways to while away months of gaming. (Full controller support for PC please Blizzard, it is 2018 after all!) Shadows is by no means a bad game, but for me it just feels somehow too "clunky", grindy and unoriginal in design to really scratch my Diablo itch. For those of you who couldn't care less about Diablo, you may feel much warmer towards Shadows, but for those hoping for a real kick @ss ARPG with strong, unique characters you really want to play, tweak and develop to your heart's content, and a title with a good variety of really interesting design and gameplay i strongly advise having a very good look at some gameplay vidz before splurging.

I'm sure the man does it for free, but at least freaking show some subtlety when you shill.
It's not magic!

I only ever get tweets read to me by people who angrily try to construct their talkingpoints out of them. It's pretty comfy.
But I get your point. Reading sucks!

Apart from The Mime, I can't say I've ever seen a Tweet that deserves to be read in it's entirety. And the likelihood dropped significantly as they increased the length.
Yep, tested with a few, definitely works if you just copy it. Had no idea, when I first tried to post a review I wrote here and saw that limit I said ok, no way I'll have anything to do with posting here, my shortest review having over 1000 words and 2000 characters being, what, 400 or so? But the one for Ember is the longest review I ever wrote, quite got away from me, close to 3500 words - words, not characters - and I could just copy and post it. Took a while to appear though, while those for Disciples Sacred Lands and Driftmoon just showed up right away even though those are also way beyond the limit, but now it's there. Apparently simple line breaks don't register though, so that one for Disciples really ended up as just a wall of text :/
Edit: Just added Divine Divinity and AoW2 ones too, and this time in IE (first ones were added in Vivaldi), also worked (that initial guideline popup doesn't show in IE, as in the box is blank, but the clickable area is where it should be, so knowing where it was from when I opened in Vivaldi I just clicked there and then could copy). Both title and text exceeding limits (bar the title of DD), button becomes active out once there's something in both fields, doesn't get greyed out again. So not sure what you're experiencing...

Guess I'll have to try it from the website, next time I want to post a review here.
Must be the galaxy-client holding me back.

I don't think I'll do it anytime soon though.

Cheers for the tipp and small ray of hope at the end of the tunnel, anyhow!

Ah, well, accessing through Galaxy... Guess they wanted more control there and since it's fully their software implemented it, enforcing the limits more.
