I know the youth of today probably don't care, but I like to put my games on the shelf. Up to now, apart from the threads in the forum, there was the page gogcovers, but it seems to be dead.

Is there still a central collection somewhere or do I have to search for every game again, like in those days?
Is this what you are looking for https://www.gog.com/forum/general/unofficial_dvd_covers_for_gog_com_games.
You mean CD/DVD covers like what Moonbeam linked, or the images that appear in gog.com/account and the store pages?
If it's the latter, I remember seeing some old threads about it, but I suppose they're long dead.
I always wondered if the covers from OP message are gone forever or obtainable with a log in or somewhere else:

As for the CD/DVD covers from the latest posts, they look fantastic!
Yes I meant CD/DVD covers.

It's a pity that there doesn't seem to be a site like gogcovers.com anymore.

Searching in forums is unfortunately not only not very practical but the linked content is often no longer available from the host. Especially if you, like me, rarely play current games, the effort is often in vain.

But that's how it is when you belong to the minority with your needs.
I am guessing you want text as well as the image, and already laid out as a cover.

If you just want a larger image to make up a cover yourself, you can just right-click on the game image in your library view, and copy the link.

i.e. https://images-1.gog-statics.com/06fd2ee8fd5b9101d0228d0b3fc49997f21280d162714d508af90e797f28520a_196.jpg

then just remove the trailing '_196' portion to get the much larger image.

i.e. https://images-1.gog-statics.com/06fd2ee8fd5b9101d0228d0b3fc49997f21280d162714d508af90e797f28520a.jpg

My GUI for gogcli.exe also has a button to download the large cover image. Another option downloads the summary (blurb) of the game.

My GUI for gogrepo.py has a similar button.
@Timboli: Thanks for the workaround but I am looking for ready made cover with layout and text, as you assumed.
Many pre-made covers are still available to download from the archived version of gogcovers.com: https://web.archive.org/web/20210414080516/https://www.gogcovers.com/

Thanks for the link!

But unfortunately 15 of the 20 files I tried are not available on the web because of server error. But I also like to admit that I am not familiar with the details of using the Internet Archive.

A forum member has kindly posted a link to the whole cover archive which can be found at: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/unofficial_dvd_covers_for_gog_com_games/post2906

It's a lot to dig through but you should find what you're looking for there!
Nice try. But filehousers delete the files after a few hours/days.

GOG should host the files again - but I'm afraid there are - on a global scale - not enough oldschool gamers who want to print covers.

What GOG should do is to create a server script that automatically takes the game title, description, and few screenshots and makes a downloadable DVD case cover PDF from those.

It takes less than a day to make a script like that and test it properly, if the programmer knows what he is doing.

Obviously those wouldn't be any fancy covers, but at least that method would give archiving users some good value service, and if they would generate those covers from the images they already use, there wouldn't even be any copyright issues with real game case cover images, which especially in the older games were something completely different.

The post I linked to isn't the filehousers one. It's a recent upload to Google Drive.
