plagren: The only problem is it took forever, as I believe Galaxy downloads all the files uncompressed.
Depends on the game... I believe Witcher 3 is compressed now though, it however might not be as compressed as the standalone installers. Depends on the compression method. Games are slowly being converted to the newer download mechanic (which is actually getting replaced again soon, one can test it now in preview for select Witcher games).
MajicMan: Is Galaxy worth installing if you don't play online?
Does it make downloading faster and better than downloading through the browser?
Is it intrusive and always launch when you launch a game?
Is it easy to completely uninstall if I don't like it?
You are going to get a lot of different views on this, there are some in the community who are very vocal about hating clients and will give you a biased response. Overall though, yes it is worth it if one remembers this is not a final product and may have occasional issues.
1. Depends, if your going to be connected online (but simply not play online games) then it has some interesting online features. But largely it's for game management over anything else right now, which is helpful offline or online.
2. Again depends, I've noticed my speed is much better using Galaxy. I also say it's much easier to download using Galaxy, since all you have to do is press install and Galaxy will take care of everything.
3. No. You can launch a game via the shortcut or exe and bypass Galaxy. It is optional, and it's very minimal right now, nowhere as bloated as say Steam.
4. Easy as any other program on your PC.
MajicMan: Seriously, WT....
So I downloaded and installed Galaxy but it won't work because I keep getting this error now:
api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer.
What kind of program doesn't come with all of its files?
Anybody know where I can safely get copy of this missing .dll for Win 7 64-bit?
Thanks for the help.
The problem is not with Galaxy (most likley), do this:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post3782 Most likely you need Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86).
