I read chinese people can only game a few hours a day or something, is that true?

With mandatory operating systems and not being able to get around the 'great firewall of china', it's been pushed that you will be reminded to play sparingly. But also it will cut you off after a few hours of play. Or so i've heard...
Perhaps you should read that "or something" which would provide additional information, some context and even answer your question.
read about that like two weeks ago, but didnt paid much attention to it. However, considering its West Taiwan we are talking about, it is either just another controversial statement by the goverment that most likely its already abandoned or they are actually pushing it, even though 70% of the Freemium market comes from West Taiwan.
Indeed, gamers who play too much are sent to re-education camps, to cure them of their addiction (they get extra harsh treatment if they're also fat).
I've also read that the CCP is now in talks with the Canadian government, they want to help Canada implement a similar system.

Yes, we welcome that vaunted strict "work, don't play" discipline for our children with open harms. Our neighbours have made us soft for too long.

Its in the upcoming curriculum. The parents are all so happy, they are weeping about it.

The only way for that to work is if there's something more fulfilling or useful in something to do. In the US Youth are often forbidden/discouraged from working jobs, well full time ones anyways, and even part time jobs are iffy til you get to 18. I had a paper route which eats 2 hours a day, and working at subway or another job part time but that was at age 16.

Side jobs used to be common. Mow someone's lawn for $5, wash cars, deliver papers, etc... Far less seen now. Kids would work to make $300 in a summer to buy a bike or the like. Today with video games, i don't know, too easily distracted i suppose.

In china... not sure. With slave labor involved i'm not sure how they have any free time at all. Plus the low standards of their building quality just promises everything will collapse anyways.
