Update:

Finally heard back. Got my refunds. #Drive Rally didn't have the Linux version available, and another game I got wouldn't run on Linux despite being listed as playable on Linux (Tower of Guns).

exiledemulator: I can't even generate a support ticket. Been that way since late September I have a game I can't run cause it keeps trying to load some kind of app after the game is already installed and I can't get any help from support. At this point I've stopped trying, I can't even get a response from anyone from GOG even through the forums attempting to contact a "BLUE" as their called.

phaolo: Some kind of app? Do you mean Galaxy or what
No, Not Galaxy I don't use Galaxy for the same reason I don't use steam or any other platform cause I like playing offline.

The game I'm trying to run is Runaway 3 Twist of Fate. After installing the game and clicking the game icon it then asks would I like to make changes to my hard drive this is AFTER the game has been installed and an icon has been generated on my desktop, I only get that prompt when installing the game not after. But for some reason after clicking the icon it takes me to a notice asking would I like to make changes to my hard drive would I like to download some type of app. It doesn't say what it is or if its even verified by GOG just says would I like to install an app THIS after I should be able to access the game but can't when I select NO to downloading whatever its trying to get me to load it won't let me access the game even though I should have access by just clicking the icon but it doesn't take me to the game but to a notice prompt trying to get me to download an app rather than opening the game. I've asked around on different forums but no one on here has ever played that game. I can't even contact support. I've tried every possible method of contact but nothing, I don't wanna try reloading the game for a video or screen capture in case it tries loading something that isn't part of the game left in by the developer that GOG might not have taken out.

Mm.. very strange. And nobody ever reported this.
Is the file legit? Try to scan it with Virustotal or something

Speculation; To hazard a guess, it sounds like a malware hooked into the executable and it may be triggering that app response.

Check your antivirus whitelists and see if there is a bunch of stuff you did not add to it. If so, its malware. If not, still possibly malware. Gog should be notified though about the behavior. Especially if its malware. As that will make the company look bad.

Do you mean the game itself or the file it tried to get me to download through the game icon?

I bought the game here on GOG in September when it was on sale its the official game.

I've even tried contacting the developers of Runaway but they don't have a support contact just a generic webpage.

Well the game itself for sure, then the other file if the first comes clean.

I've been trying since late September to contact GOG about this but I can't generate a support ticket and the "BLUES" or Admins or whatever their called in forums don't respond and I've tried more than once to contact them through forums.

I didn't try running the game launcher through virus total but I did try a virus scan through windows right after it tried to get me to load some type of unspecified app I didn't launch the app but I scanned my system anyway just in case but came back with a clean scan. I haven't tried to load the launchers since... If I explain this to returns would they make an exception if I haven't been able to run a game I've had since September? I only got it for 0.89 cents... I expect for something I bought here to run as its suppose to.

My system scan back clean before I uninstalled the game from my system but I didn't try scanning the file with virus total probably should have but I Just wanted the thing off my system... The last time I bought a messed up game was when I first joined GOG when I tried playing one of the star trek games seems like even people on steam have a problem running that game but I got that game returned. Its been 2 months if I can't run the game I wonder if they will refund the game if I explain my situation to them? I Just want it to work or I don't want it at all..

If you contacted support before 14 days, I imagine yes. Even if your situation is very strange. They may check\test the file on their end before accepting.

What is your antivirus? It could be a bad one that misses stuff. Only virustotal would have been a safe check (even if it also contains a few crap AVs that always give false positives, but you can ignore them)

You don't really need to use the support page on the website.

You can simply send a mail to help@gog.com
A ticket is generated "normally"

And yes it is very slow, not enough humans with the number of tickets. it's simple like that. (don't expect 2-4 days after your ticket for an answer; unless maybe in case of a refund ....but i doubt ... i think which is matter in this case is the date when the ticket has been generated.... not the answer)

Now for your game : the only support i found : contact@pendulostudios.com
Is this the one your tried ?

I dunno what's the game tried to install when you launched it; sounds suspicious (aside maybe the client.... which is anyway optional)...would have been a good idea to try to launch the game directly from the "real" executable in the game folder, not the shortcut created. (just an idea)... to see if the same behaviour occurs.

Windows Defender its suppose to pick up everything. I do regular updates on my system no reason it wouldn't pick up something that may be malicious. If I can't get any support I'll try to return it soon.

Thats just what I found too but seems more like a business contact than a support I don't know if they would be willing to try to help with technical support. 3D Realms they had two separate emails for business and game support.

If I go directly through email I hope they won't just refer me back to the support page.

You know, even if you find a proper mail address for Runaway 3, i'm not even sure they will answer. Happened to me in the past with numerous studios...they simply don't reply.

The only recent exception was Stardock (because they a have dedicated support ) and furthermore it's a publisher

Pretty sure the mail for GOG's support will work and a ticket will be generated: i use it often to report mostly errors in the web user library and it works. The only issue is the one was mentioned by numerous customers in this thread : it's very slow....

Going through the website, could be useful in some cases, there's a FAQ, which doesn't cover everything unfortunately and sometimes going through the website is a total waste of time.... Fortunately they removed the helpless bot..
