Welp
Hope they filed the claim at 11:58pm
Why do I see this ending in dismissal?
I guess Ion Maiden’s developer is running to the hills.
Did they take their musket?
As soon as time travel is invented they can go back and sue the person who named the supposed torture device too!
lol really, come on.
And some lawyer is making a fair amount of money for fling a suit he knows is gonna be dismissed.
To be fair, Ion Maiden is very clearly a pun on a well known copyrighted name. Is that allowed? I mean do you think Disney would look kindly on a new "Stark Wars" or "Mackey Mouse" commercial franchise?

Though I guess it's also a fact that "Iron Maiden" is an actual thing that the band named themselves after. So nevermind.

To be fair, the iron maiden wasn't exactly an entertainment product unlike that game is. And the category does matter when it comes to naming.

While it isn't exactly a strong one, I do think the band has a point because it is just as you mentioned.
Come on, just how high are they up their own asses?
Anyway, the case is going to be dismissed. The 'similarities' are laughable.

From the devs Twitter:
(1/4) We’ve recently heard about a lawsuit filed in California by the band Iron Maiden, claiming our old-school first-person shooter Ion Maiden (@Bombshell_Game) is infringing on their trademark. From what we’ve heard, the suit claims our main character...
... (2/4) Shelly Harrison, originally debuting in 2016’s Bombshell, is based on their musician Steve Harris; our skull bomb icon found in-game is based on their skeleton mascot Eddie; our logo in itself is based on theirs; and other frivolous claims anyone who has played...
(3/4)... Ion Maiden would find more over the top than Shelly’s “Loverboy”, her signature 18-round triple-barreled revolver. We at 3D Realms, our co-publishers 1C Entertainment, and developer Voidpoint will review our options once we receive official notice of the...
(4/4)... lawsuit and will make any necessary decisions at the appropriate time. Regardless, everyone continues to work diligently on Ion Maiden to deliver the best possible experience later this year.

Record company or the band? Seeing as this is pretty out of character for the band, I must say I'm surprised.

IProbably the bands record label.

The Mickey Mouse chain of department stores (image attached) apparently lasted for a little over a decade before it was renamed to "Mickey House" in Indonesia. But then this is a country where DC comics recently lost a rights infringement claim against a company producing Superman snacks, so that might not be surprising.
