IMPORTANT: Please read before posting This topic has been provided to discuss the latest releases of our Downloader (for both Mac and Windows systems) and to submit bug reports. The stable releases (recommended for most users) can be found at this address:http://www.gog.com/downloader.

Latest version:

Mac OS X - 1.2 (build 512)
Windows - 3.6.0

Both Downloaders now have the option of sending Error Reports directly to us (this can be found in app under Settings).

Fallen_Zen: When does the window show up? Can you PM me the contents of the logger file?

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\GOG.com\logger.log

If the folder does not exists, please create it and run the app again.
Okay, will do, however for some reason I didn't have a log file for some reason. I will send the file when this occurs the next time.

GOG Downloader no longer performs file integrity check?

Well since we're no officially in business with the new downloader, we'll be posting changelog with each new version.

3.1 Beta uses push cloud system to initiate downloads, this is the main difference with 3.0.

Ok. So I find a bug , sorta?

If downloader gog is not running, clicking on the download button on website does nothing. If downloader is running, it works ok.

Opera 11.60

PS. Integrity check was a crucial feature of old downloader. If some files were corrupted, it downloaded only broken files.

Well since the BETA uses pushes to initiate downloads (the downloader subscribes to a channel and listens to incoming messages from the Cloud) it can no longer start itself, as when off it does not listen to anything ;)

As for integrity checks, the downloader does that. If you download games to the same folder as before and add a game to the queue, the Downloader calculates the checksums of all installer files and compares them to the ones on the server. If they do not match, it downloads installer again, if they do, the download is marked completed.

But it downloads from the start, yes? It has no point in that case. The real point was to check the integrity to save time when redownloading only necessary parts of the file, not the whole installer from the beginning.

People with unstable, slow connections REALLY need that.

Well most of the installers have one file only, if the checksum on it is incorrect, all I can do is to re-download the whole game. We can think about other options.

Well, the old downloader merged the file, performed integrity check, and then, if something was wrong, it downloaded corrupted chunks. (installer was downloaded in chunks). If everything was ok, downloader deleted all chunk files, leaving only merged file.

Many people have internet connection with monthly bandwidth limit, so it was possible to save it, with old downloader. with big games like witcher , painkiller , redownloading the whole file from the scratch is a real pain in the ass.

In that case, new downloader is even a downgrade, compared to the old one...

This is the same case as well. The games are downloaded in chunks, which are verified with md5 when completed and re-downloaded if something is wrong. When every chunk is downloaded and verified, the game files are merged, and chunks removed.

I'm talking about a situation, when you have only completed installers on disk, with no chunks to verify. In this situation I can only re-download the whole installer.

Cant log in on version 3, have the prior version and it is fine. Everytime I log in get incorrect email and password message.

We misunderstood each other, it seems ;)

In old downloader there were blue, orange and green progress bars, so I thought some features were dropped out.

So you don't need to redownload everything again if your connection is lost, thanks for the info, looking forward to future releases, sorry for panicking ;)

Yes, everything is working as before and you don't have to re-download anything :)
Chunks are verified the moment they have been downloaded and not and the end of the whole download.

Same as with iainmet, I can't log in into stable version, getting info about incorrect email and password all the time
