UPDATE: Last chance to grab your games from the original list! Make sure to get them until June 8, 12:59 PM UTC.

Want more games? We've got more games! Three new titles are now available through GOG Connect:

- Kona
- Defender's Quest
- Door Kickers

You can get them until June 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.

The full list of games will always be available on connect.gog.com, starting with these and more:

- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

For a bit more library-building, a bunch of our favorite titles will also be discounted up to -85% all week long, including The Witness, Saints Row: The Third, System Shock 2 and more. You can check out all the deals here. The sale will last until June 6, 12:59 PM UTC.

gogamess: I still have the same error:

YOUR ACCOUNTS ARE BEING CONNECTED
Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience.

Do I need to install the GOG Galaxy Client and then it works or is not needed at all?.

Thanks :(
The Steam API, as mentioned elsewhere, can only take so many requests at once, so it all gets queued up. You don't have to keep waiting on the page, apparently.

Heckler: Very interested in this new service, but have a question...

In your FAQ it says: "NOTE: Make sure your Steam Privacy Settings & Profile Status are set to public"

I keep my Steam account set to private. Would I only need to switch it to public briefly to make the connection, or does the Steam account need to remain public forever to keep access to connected games at GOG.com?

If I only need to set my steam account to public for the transfer and then swap it back, then I'm likely to give it a try. If I lose access to the GOG copies by switching the account back to private, I'll likely pass.
I switched mine back to private after the transfer, with no noticeable problems.

Super cool move, GOG.com!
So my accounts may not connect for *days*, but the first round of games are only available for import for a few days? It sounds like people who tried to activate connect later in the day could get completely screwed out of the first round of imports...
A truly awesome and forward-thinking move! Thank you!

Yeah, there needs to be an extension or something on the available games, just so people don't get screwed because of launch issues.

blakstar: Did you manage to click the button that said "Add [x] games?"

Just asking, because I got a spinning circle for ages, only to find out that the page had stalled, and the games had been added to my account.
Yeah I did tap on it, but it's still not displayed on my library e.g Braid, Trine 1 etc.
This is one really nice feature, thanks for this GOG guys

Here's hoping it won't really take a few days, but I can wait if I have to

Honestly though, why would you release this feature that must be taken advantage of on a time limit without working with Valve to agree on an API call rate limit that makes it reasonable for your users to act within the time constraint they are being provided? Not the greatest..
Interesting development. Not useful for those who don't use Steam, but can help those who are using it or used it before starting using GOG to switch to GOG more. GOG should widen the list of games that are covered by this though, otherwise it won't have much impact.

I'm somewhat surprised that The Witcher is included and The Witcher 2 is not though, since both can be accessed on GOG for those who have them on Steam using https://www.gog.com/witcher/backup

I can only really suggest a certain amount of patience then -- as I'm sure you can tell, the system is probably fairly overloaded.
- Get game on Steam.

- Download DRM free version from GOG.

- Refund game on Steam.

- Even if GOG removes the game from your library, you have a drm free copy of the game on your HD. Without the need to torrent it.

Am I wrong?

Is something being done to prevent people from doing this?

gotta have game left for next week or whenever they announce more games.
Another thing. Two Worlds on Steam has a Linux version (Wine wrapped), while developers never released it on GOG. More than that, they actually took GOG Windows release for their wrapped Linux version from what I've heard!

So GOG, please convince them that it's not the right way to treat GOG users.

blakstar: I'm hoping that GOG sorts this syncing thing out at some point in time, otherwise jumping from private profile to public to private could get annoying after a while!
Yes, it could. Unless my guess about having to switch back and forth for updates on either end is completely stupid and wrong and it's actually a one-time only thing when you first connect. I wouldn't mind be proven wrong about a thing like that.
