Hi!

i got a pentium 2 pc running windows xp professional.
i want to put windows 98 on it instead but the hard drive is NTFS.
now i wonder, can i just install win98 by removing the old hard drive and replace it with an empty one to install win98 on? i also got a empty hard drive and a windows 98 installation disc.
do i only need to take out the old hard drive or must i uninstall win xp ? :)

any help is thankfull

Since Win98 can't read NTFS, you'd either have to re-format your XP disk (deleting everything) or replace the first (!) disk (boot disk) with the empty one.

You can also try a parallel install, but you still need to install W98 first:

If you already have another hard drive to use, go ahead and plug that in, then install win 98 on it. No need to wipe the one where XP is currently installed. (Also, your XP drive may come in handy in case something goes wrong with the win 98 installation).
Holy copy-paste, Botman!
